Matt Campbell - Unique fit

I think Matt Campbell is an interesting candidate for LSU. Takes a very different approach from a lot of the other coaches on the list. Has taken no shortcuts to build a winning program at one of the most difficult places to win in all of college football. I would be interested to see what a Matt Campbell program with LSU's resources and recruiting base would look like.
Curious to hear what everyone else's thoughts on Campbell are.

He’s my #1
Love Campbell
*I would be perfectly fine/happy with Franklin/Fickell/Aranda/Napier and a few others as well, but Matt Campbell is my personal #1

Yes he would do well here

The uninformed will tell you Campbell lost to Lafayette, therefore he's not qualified. ISU has always been a joke in football, a basketball school, not so much anymore.

Don't know about the fit at LSU but Fickell is probably the hottest group of 5 name no doubt.
Campbell has done really good things and seems to "get" how to build a program.
I'm still not a big Franklin fan. Something very slimy about him.

Yea I think Campbell is the surprise candidate potentially.

I was surprised to learn that he was making 4 million a year at ISU…

He would be a home run hire.

Yeah. That dude is impressive

Yeah I really like him. I like dudes that understand the process to building a program, it goes beyond just running an offense or a defense. He and fickell are my top 2 choices. I think geographic fit is looked at too often.

Solid choice
I consider him smart, responsible, credible, young, successful.
I think he's an obvious guy to interview and consider.

He's a really great coach and built that program.

I like Campbell. I brought his name up a couple weeks ago.

I would be thrilled with Campbell. I've seen posters say he's not leaving Ames because he's already turned down the NFL, but he has a senior-laden team with tons of experience. Iowa State will likely take a step back to rebuild next year.
If he ever wants to move on, now could be his best opportunity.

he's rebuffed other overtures so I'm not sure what his end game is

My guess is he’s in position to be patient and wait for the first Big10/Midwest big job to open up, much like Fickell probably (Mich/OhioSt/PennSt/NotreDame)

I think he’d do well here.
Didn’t he turn down NFL offers though? That’s my one concern about getting him

Iowa has zero recruiting base, other than a few linemen, so Campbell has done really well in recruiting from JUCO, Portal, and HS, to get that program where it is. That's definitely a quality that will find him mentioned for a number of jobs. Campbell can afford to be picky.
