I'm patiently waiting on proper endgame reviews...

Diablo® IV, the highly anticipated new installment of the iconic Diablo series, is now live. Already, it is Blizzard Entertainment’s fastest-selling game of all time, with Blizzard’s highest pre-launch unit sales ever on both console and PC*. In the four days since early access started on June 1, Diablo IV has been played for 93 million hours, or over 10,000 years.

This is my first Diablo game and I rolled Barbarian. Trying to level on world tier 2 has sucked. I created a sorcerer and found that to be way more fun. Is there a need to have a barbarian in groups for later content?

Been playing as a necro - world tier 2. I was beginning to think that the difficulty curve wasn’t too steep but I just encountered the act 1 boss and it’s steamrolling the shite out of me.
That is largely due to the lack of corpses being produced for replenishing my mobs and producing explosions though. Need to retool my build I guess.
I am concerned about the enemy and environmental variety. In previous games, the separation of zones into specific acts added variety. Im not seeing enough variation to call this singular world map a roaring success so far.
Lastly, I miss the narrative hook of Diablo 1 & 2. I feel like the bosses and the overall narrative arc carried more weight. Perhaps it improves moving forward but so far, Lilith seems like a meh villain. I can understand the need for a new narrative arc since the prime evils and soul stones arcs have been more or less resolved, but I’m not digging this new contrivance to slay demons.
Fun action rpg all in all. Just wish it hit on all the same cylinders as Diablo 2, but it’s partially my own lofty standards at fault.

I'm seeing it in Act II.

Has this not always been the case with Diablo? Every act is normally a new locale.

I delved a little into the act 2 zone by accident and it didn’t seem wildly different. Went from mountainous to a manor with some grasslands. It has been pretty to look at but felt a little generic.
Not sure ill see a transition from grasslands to middle eastern desert to jungle to hell to a mountainous icy climate. Just doesn’t seem feasible.
Maybe jumping the gun. Just seems like it will be difficult to do some of the old school “setpiece” level design with one continuous map. But what the hell do I know.

Diablo IV Steam Deck report: scorching performance is worth the installation faff
Looks like this game runs extremely well on everything, including the steam deck on mostly ultra settings.
Man Blizzard really killed it with this one.

barb is pretty tough early on. if you group play then yes very valuable for shouts. diablo has never really been group played focused though.
barbarians really shine as you grow. im world tier 3 and tearing through shite like tissue paper.

Started with Necro on world tier II, and had a hard time surviving. Seemed like my minions were nerfed right before release. Switched to sorcerer, and having a blast now. Boses, including the Butcher, have been a breeze. Sadly, my activity level at the house has been nonexistent since D4 came out…

Game looks pretty fun. Personally, not $70 worth of fun. But definitely a lot of fun.

If you played D2, you will enjoy this game. It's fantastic.
