You are correct, it was 12.

Just had my 2nd one last Wednesday at Cambrian Ridge. It was on hole number 4 of the Sherling course. I did not even see it go in. It took 10-15 seconds to fall in the hole and I had turned my back to put my club in my bag and the next guy on tee box said “it just went in”.
My first one was back in the 90’s on the island green at Gemstone in Franklinton. Miss hit 9 iron that rolled in.

I have *2 on the same hole, #6 at Willowdale/ Grand Ridge. Playing with the same two people. About 6 years apart.
First one was the summer before my sophomore year of high school. I chunked my tee shot in the water. Reteed and holed it with an 8i. Hence the *.
Second one was summer before Katrina. Hit a sand wedge just past the hole, checked and backed in. Legit. I was so excited I forgot to switch balls and played to the turn before I realized it. And if you’ve played there you know there’s water on 7,8,&9. That ball is in a cube.
I once doubled eagled #2 there. Pissed on my drive and then holed a 3w from the fairway.

None. Have eagled multiple par 4s from 150+ yards away but have never made a hole in one.

Only had 1 and never saw it.
I'm not, nor have ever been much of a golfer (never broken 80), but I was playing by myself at City Park in BR one Saturday. Got to the 8th hole (blind uphill ~200 yd par 3) and realized the LSU basketball game I was going to was just about to start so decided I'd just quit after this hole and head out
quickly threw down a ball and pulled my 3 iron (which, like most golfers I've NEVER hit worth a damn) took a quick and relaxed "don't give a shite" swing and hit the purest 3 I've ever hit...watched the ball go up the hill and disappear over the rise, never leaving the top of the flag stick (which was all I could see)....I thought , "Damn that's got to be on the green" (which is a rarity for me)....felt so good I dropped another ball and proceeded to skull a low "stinger" that never got more than 10 feet off the ground
grabbed my pull cart and hurried up the hill to see where the first one was and there was my ball about 6 feet short of pin...knew it was good.
started looking for my second one, but couldn't find it...walked behind the green thinking it surely ran long but no ball....group teeing off on #9 tee box saw me and said why are you looking over there, it hit the flag and is in the hole
walked to the hole and sure enough, my second ball was in the cup
caught up to the group ahead in the clubhouse after and they witnessed for me
predictably, I've never had another one

Sculled a 7 iron. Didn’t get more than 5 feet off the ground. Hit into setting sun so wasn’t sure where it went. Looked around green a while then checked the cup.

Sadly, no hole in one. 69 years old.
But I have had an albatross 2 on a Par 5. That was pretty special. I was in a tournament, too, so had witnesses.

One time, I holed in one on my 4th putt.

# 17 at Santa Maria. 8 iron, 147 yards. Slight draw, hit the green about 5 feet from the hole and the ball gently rolled in.

8th hole
When I was in college I caught some kids hiding in the bushes to the left of the green. When a ball hit the green they’d go run and put it in the hole.
Probably a few hole-in-one’ s on this blind shot that never were.

I have witnessed 3 aces.
1 of them was my only one.
It was at the now defunct Harry Pritchett Golf Course in Tuscaloosa. The layout was different. It had a front 10 holes and a back 8 holes.
I started late one afternoon thinking I would only play the back 8. I was paired up with a complete stranger and was playing well on that back 8. I got to #16. It was about 125 yards and the pin was back right on the green.
I choked up on a 9 iron and it landed center of the green and rolled about 10 feet into the hole.
My score was so good on the back 8 that I decided to play the front 10 as well. I don't remember my overall score but it wasn't that great. The front 10 got me. lol

I played there many times. It was next to the VA hospital.
It was an odd layout, but had some good holes.
Kind of rough condition in the late 1980s, but they let us med students rotating at the VA play for free.

It doesn’t sound like you ever had the first one. What you described above is not a hole in one.

Got my first yesterday, Santa Maria #17.

All 3 of mine were at Le Triomphe:
#1 (1997): Hole #8. Over a pond, sucker pin on the far right, so of course I aimed for it. 167 yds, 5-iron. The hole is right behind my house, so when we all yelled after my shot, our kids’ nanny looked out the window to see what the noise was about, and figured it out. I included her name in the paper as a witness.
#2: (2000): Hole #3. 140 yds, as they were saving the back tees for the state mid-AM 2 weeks later. 8-iron, straight into the sun. I couldn’t see it, but when my competitive friend cursed me, I knew it was good news for me. (Side note: 3 weeks later, I won my only club championship by shooting my PR at the time from the tips to beat players a lot better than me.)
#3: (2011): Hole #16: 170 yds, 7-iron (downhill, downwind). Witnessed by my 12 yo son, who actually didn’t see it go in, because he was lying in the cart looking at the sky for some reason. I had him run onto the green ahead of me and witness the ball in the hole.
Bonus: (2016) Double Eagle: Le Triomphe hole #7: driver-rescue 3 club.
