They currently don’t average 75 players per tourney, have no qualification process to get onto the tour, don’t have a cut, and haven’t been in place for the requisite year before applying
Yeah the Hero gets points and frankly shouldn’t and that set a precedent, but LIV is currently short multiple factors including the timeframe and are essentially wanting their cake and wanting to eat it too
It sucks for those guys but they should’ve known what they were getting into and frankly that Saudi money couldn’t just buy this problem away.
Hopefully it is figured out because the majors are better places with the best players in it. But, I also don’t think the OWGR is under any obligation to completely change it’s criteria, even if some of them have been changed for a tourney here or there in the past
I do think the idea of promotion and relegation is an interesting idea for “qualification” that if done right could be a really neat twist. I also think the team aspect is really intriguing.
I also think that most people wouldn’t give two craps if trump hadn’t put his name behind it (some people for good and some will never support now, I’m a trump voter ftr) and are now polarized around the league simply because of their favorite or most hated political figure

Why would they wait till now to jump? Coulda been gone after the Fed Ex championship
LIV didn’t have any additional slots in 2022. They have 6-7 slots available in 2023. This would be a crushing blow to the PGA is they land this group.

May as well throw what Twitter says out the window until official announcements. Most of those accounts hit on the obvious ones but haven’t been correct lately.

It is B.S. if LIV can continue the lawsuit without complying.
Has there been an order to compel or is this just them objecting to discovery requests?

Don't know for sure, that is why I said "if"
But it shouldn't happen.
If LIV doesn't want to divulge then the suit should be dismissed.

Doesn’t want to divulge what?

The pga tour isn’t going after LIV, they’re trying to go after the entire Saudi PIF. They’re asking for any and all correspondence regarding PIF, not just LIV.
Good luck with that.

Patrick Reed file another lawsuit against the media.
What a clown show.
"This particular lawsuit is against Shane Ryan of Golf Digest, Hachette, the New York Post, Fox Sports, Doug Ferguson and the Associated Press. These defendants have been named as co-conspirators in the claim along with the PGA Tour, NBC’s Golf Channel, Brandel Chamblee, Damon Hack, Shane Bacon, Eamon Lynch, Golf Week, Gannett and others"
The new lawsuit alleges that the defendants have spread “malicious false allegations, all of which were designed to severely harm Reed, his family and colleagues personally and professionally. Reed is a former member of the PGA Tour, Masters Champion, among many other victories, accolades, and awards by the young age of 32.”

The world rankings are now a joke. The majors need to find a new way to ensure they have top fields to continue to their legacy.

If the PGA Tour can totally revamp their format (elevated events, no more fall series, etc) a week after a player's only meeting, then surely the OWGR can revamp their criteria to include a startup league that includes *checks notes* 12 of the last 27 major winners.
I haven't watched a LIV event since the one in Boston. I don't really care about it. But for those players to not get OWGR points is just silly.

The 54 holes vs 72 holes is one of the biggest obstacles from what I have read.
The LIV limited field is probably is another issue to work through IMO.

That lawsuit makes sense. Shane used hearsay in his book about him. Lacked validity.

I hope Reed takes Chamblee to the cleaners.
A tool for sure and his habit of spouting off for shock value hopefully costs him plenty.

Hopefully the courts decide that both are complete pieces of trash and execute both of them on the courthouse lawn.

Is this similar speculation to when they claimed they were getting world ranking points?
It could be similar speculation to when they claimed they were getting Cam Smith. Like Cam, more of the top players are going to wonder why they are playing a more demanding schedule and someone far inferior to them is making 3 times as much money for working 50% as often.

If every book had to rely direct testimony from the subject, then there would be much fewer books. They are not the court of law.

Would be nice if both leagues got together and formed an alliance of some sort, but that won’t happen with Norman in charge.
So, there are rumors that Norman might be replaced by ex-Taylormade exec Mark King as CEO. (LIV has denied that, but will be releasing a statement soon)
If they make a change, do you think an alliance would be made since “Norman is no longer in charge”? Or is it, like I said, never gonna happen while monahan is in charge?
