Played around with ladiga. Would be the fastest 100 I ever ran lol

I want to run Ladiga, but I have 4 friends running Blue Heron... hard to pass up running a race you know you have built in support vs. one you do not.

Also Blue Heron has a better buckle

Yes. I was already planning to run a few hours at pine mountain... figured I might as well get a free race out of it.

I'm eventually going to do Ladiga. I've got Bootlegger coming up end of March. Trying to help my friend the RD get it classified as a WSER qualifier.

Y'all make me sick with these ultras. A 14 mile long run when I was prepping for a half made me question why anyone would do even a marathon

Don’t try to run it at 6-7 min pace and it don’t make you sick lol.

If it makes you feel any better - after running a 100 miler I also don't get why people race a Marathon, it's a terrible distance

Those 20 mile long run workouts in a marathon block are what I live for

15K is my ideal race distance. I fade pretty hard after that and the shorter distances I never feel comfortable. Especially hate the 5K.

I will try an ultra one day. Guess yall just cruise at a 10-13 min pace for 50-100 miles?

Pace is a weird thing in ultras. Terrain dictates most of it. I've run 100 miles in under 23 hours and over 28 hours and thought both were solid efforts for their particular races.

It’s that time of year bros! Weather is perfect and the ponytails and yoga pants are out. 7 easy miles with the stroller tonight on the Lakeshore Trail here in Bham. Grandson amused the coeds by talking to them as we passed. Got a lot of laughs.

Nah. Everyone just cruises at 10 min/ mile pace for sub 17hr 100 mile finishes.

Yes road vs trail and then under 5k gain vs 10-20k gain makes big difference for most.

I had some decent races but never felt like I’ve ever had a complete race other than a marathon.

7 easy at HR 142. Felt great despite the hills.

4 hard at lactate. 2 miles at LT1, 165 HR and 8:40 pace. 1 mile at LT2, 177 HR and 7:30 pace. 1 mile at 160 HR.

Drank beer. Ate wings.

Figured I'd start posting here to keep me going.

4 mile easy run. 10:25 pace.

Got a half marathon in May. Not getting my weekly miles in good enough.

8 @ 7:15. Had a couple of crappy "easy runs" the last two days where my legs felt terrible. Got pissed ran my long run too fast. Don't care, felt great, F the "boo the gray zone" nerds.

Just kidding, love you guys too.

7 yesterday, 11 today in Z2, 10:30ish pace. This is my first time dabbling in Z2 running, it is pretty neat getting done with a long(for me) run and feeling the same as when i started. Can actually relax and decompress a little.

6 miles in 1:08:25. Walked some. Highland Park has some hills. Need to get stringer.

4.5 miles at 9:26 per, HR 155 but that's from a watch so who knows. Farthest I've done in a long time, but weather was nice and I'm in Dallas where is basically flat. Felt easy, confident I could go 10k.

Anyone running Zydeco Marathon Half on March 8? I was planning on running the full since I had the flu before my marathon in January and did not have a great race. So I just picked up training and kept up mileage somewhat until I saw the crappy forecast. Current forecast is a low of 64, 60% chance of rain, south wind of 5-10 and humid. For extra fun, race day is also DST! Going to just run the half like a wimp because thats not looking like good marathon weather.
Guess I will have to look forward to Fat Boy 5k to attempt a pr or maybe the Tiger 10k.

Don’t understand this logic. Weather is the one thing you’ll never control. Either you’re trained for a marathon or you’re not. What’s the worst that can happen. You don’t hit that PR. Oh well but you gained experience for the next one if you get another opportunity. Life is short
