SpeedQueen TC5 has knobs and less electronic controls but kinda small capacity, about $1350-1400.
LG WT8400CW, I’ve used 2 of these, they have been beast, large 5.5 cuft capacity, can wash heavy king size comforter, no agitator in ours but there is an agitator model too. Has more SMART functions than I need but still easy to use and no electronics problems with ours, they’re about $1350 regular but you can get them $850 or less when on sale.

The GOAT would be a restored 1993-2008 Whirlpool direct drive. The holy grail of washers. I tell people who have them anything in them is worth replacement. As long as the frame isn't rusted it will last forever.

That is what I have. A 26 year old Whirlpool that is still running strong.

THIS…My Grandma had the same was for damn near 30 years… I only remember my Uncle having to change the belt I think a couple times growing up

Yeah my parents still have a fridge in their garage they bought when they got married in 1983. Works perfectly. I bought a brand new nice Frigidaire and the ice maker quit working about 2 years after I bought it.

Ill bet that speed queen doesn't last 20 yrs. Those machines were made very similar in the 80s and were thought of as junk by most in the repair business. after whirlpool shut done that plant a group of investers decided to open it back up to build speed queens again. Everyone elses quality had fallen so far that washers typically have a 7 yr lifespan, the speed queen was a bit better option. Even tho its better than most washers sold today 1 its not gonna last 20 yrs without very expensive repairs 2 Its highly overpriced. Probably should be in the 1000 dollar range instead of 1500.

How long does a wash take? I don’t see a quick wash on there. My old Maytag Centennial takes over an hour to wash before moving to rinse stage. I despise this machine. But was given to me when mine konked out so I try to not complain. My mom needs a new washer and I’d like to point her to a simple machine, no electronic bells and whistles.

Fun little fact, if you want something made in the US and made Louisiana, you can pony up to a commercial coin operated model from the Pellerin Milnor Corporation manufactured in Kennbrah.

Pellerin Milner Corporation

Those washers are about 10 grand.

This and only this.

We have a TR5 and it's crap. The TC5 came out about a year or two after we got our TR5 set.

I have the SQ TC7 washer and dryer. However, the TC3 or TC5 is just as good, if not better, due to less bells and whistles.

That said, my TC7 models have been rock solid. Comes with a 7 year warranty.

We’ve had a Maytag commercial washer and dryer for 10 years. I’ve only had to replace a temperature sensor on the dryer. It took about 45 minutes to fix.

Samsung is junk. Bought a Maytag and it lasted four years then the control board went out. Control board was about half as much as a new washer. Bought Speed Queen with 7 year warranty and have had no problems going on year six.

Speed Queen, the Toyota of appliances, according to the OT....

We had a baseline GE washer and dryer that lasted 14 years with a pretty heavy use. The shite with all the bells and whistles will go to shite before anything.

We have another GE set that was about $1200 for both.

Speed Queen without a doubt. There must be a reason commercial laundry-mats use them. .

GE commercial washer. Agitator and 3 knobs. Works like a champ.

And buy it from a plumbing supplier…not Lowe’s or HD.

I have the SQ TC5/DC5 pair. Following 6 years of moderate use I had to have the fill pump replaced on the washer. Cost was about $160. Only issue so far outside the belts on the dryer took a while to wear in. They left an odor for a while following use. No longer a problem.

There are speed queens with digital controls now, I would pass on that and go with the one with the manual dials - as mentioned above the TC5

There are all digital now, manual controls knobs but are attached to a motherboard.
