Summer line:
6.2, 1H, 0ER, 0BB, 12K, 0.15 WHIP

Damn. That’s an impressive line. Would love to see him grow into a dominant closer next year.

I’ve always been high on Rizy, he just wasn’t quite ready to dominate this year.

What's the general rule on summer ball these days? I just saw Curiel post a picture of Alex Box so assuming that he's not playing in any summer league? Just curious if the nailed on starters get a rest or aren't required to participate...

I think it's just that some guys like Rizy need time on the mound, and some guys like Curiel need time in the weight room.

Bingo. Curiel said on Mikie’s show that he is focusing on weight (getting to 195), speed, and left handed pitching this summer.

Curiel has zero need to play any summer ball. He just started a whole season his freshman year and the #1 thing he needs right now is some rest and work in the weight room/putting on weight. His draft time is a year away so he'll want to position himself best he can for that.

Curiel can make himself a lot of money by getting closer to 200lbs at his height and adding some power to show maybe he can hit 10-15 HR.

It's interesting you mention that...we were at the Tennessee series and noticed that he had come up holding his shoulder after throwing a ball in from the wall. Between innings when they were doing soft toss, he went to throw a ball back to the infield and it died about halfway to the infield and he seemed genuinely hurt. It was like he just lost his throwing power. We were really worried about him but then he just stuck with it and I never heard anything else about it until you mentioned that.

When I saw him last off-season in scrimmages, he was rolling balls back into the infield on 2 occasions.

He did mention on Mik'd up that he had a shoulder injury, but didn't mention a surgery or anything.

Keep in mind that league he is in is against mostly JUCO, DII type of talent. There are very few high level D1 players in the Texas Collegiate League. Most of the D1 players in it are from places like NWST, LT, ULM, McNeese, etc...And not their best players either by any imagination.
