This is probably not going to go well for Mainieri this year. I wish him all the best, but I think he made a mistake getting back into coaching. The game has changed so much off the field and I doubt he can keep up.

I thank him for what he did, but I don't want him to have any success at South Carolina.

He spent his retired days in the champions club bitching about how Jay was getting too much credit for the state of the program. He got back into coaching because he was jealous of what Jay built. It turns out, Jay is just a better coach and program manager.

always was. Paul relied way way too much on the program name and previous achievements his last 4-5 years. he also treated people like shite.

I appreciate what he did through 2016, but I dont like him as a person but I dont want him to have any success just because his personality and how he treats people.

I need to stop listening to Musso. His latest episode talked about how Fidel Ulloa was a transfer portal bust.

Considering he was neither a portal recruit, nor a bust, I'd say his take was not accurate.

I'd say through 2017 but agreed. Ask Blake Dean what he thinks of PM these days.

and yea i agree prolly through 2017.

i mean he was always a dick but the way he treated people at the end and especially after.....yea frick him...he is not a good person like he tries to come off as. complete opposite.

Judging from his line in the scrimmage today, this just might be close to being true.

That would be an insane jump.

I feel like he sat about 90-92 with a 94 here and there.

He did several interviews during the 2023 run including some on the field after the championship game. He never said anything bad about Jay, but you could sense there was some jealousy for not getting more credit, especially when he would talk about the players on that team that played for him like, Crews, Morgan and others.

I’m more impressed that he grew almost 4-5 inches since the fall.

I don't think he threw over 89 toward the end of the year lol. But did see him up to 94 in scrimmages last year

South Carolina is running scrimmages with coaches throwing innings. They had to sit another pitcher this week with arm soreness.

Mainieri is wood chippering arms and the season hasn't even started yet.

Oh yeah, publicly Mainieri was nothing but respectful.

Behind closed doors, it was a different story.

Went back to the UCLA game and he was sitting 89-91 and flashing 93. If he can sit 98 and be Randy Johnson, pencil him in for the Saturday role

His pre-covid rotations could have been incredible with proper arm care.

Hill/Henry/Marceaux/Labas/Walker/Fontenot/Beck was an awesome group.

Too bad the only year we got to see them together was the shortened 2020 season that would have been absolutely miserable had we gotten to conference play.

We got shut out by Eastern Kentucky in a game where we had two big leaguers throwing. Good riddance.

Major Osbolt pitched again today for Walters State. 3 IP with 6 Ks. 10 batters faced with 2 hits, so he must have generated a double play as well.

That's 5 IP with 10 K and no walks on the year so far.
