Townsend arrived at Ole Miss last January. He previously spent two years at UAB. He transferred into the program last offseason after playing in 12 total games with 11 starts across two seasons at UAB. He redshirted in 2023.
Before college, Townsend was a three star recruit in the 2023 cycle. According to the Rivals Industry Rankings.

Ole Miss fans said players didn’t want to follow Lane. At least that’s what they kept saying.

If not, I’ll take the Townsend for Curne trade 10 out of 10 times.
Especially considering Curne and his people think he’s a Tackle.

He plays Guard and there’s some criticism of his play in their playoff loss here:
Clutch Points

They go on to say he did a better job in the second half and they were critical of the entire line, but they focused on him

Townsend struggled to get leverage for the run game. He was even less efficient in pass protection, allowing a team-high five pressures, although only one led to a sack. If it were any quarterback other than the elusive Chambliss behind him, Townsend's errors would have been much more noticeable. Considering Ole Miss nearly abandoned the run in the second half, Townsend's struggles in that regard were obvious, even to those without a keen eye for blocking details. He received a team-worst 27.2 pass-blocking grade from Pro Football Focus by the end of the night.

He had a bad game and LG was our weakest link for sure. Both guys that started there hit the portal. But he's only a Sophomore and has plenty of development left.
Probably a good sign for Ole Miss and the Ohio State kid.

So they are saying he didn't have a great game against probably the best Dline he's seen all year?

Townsend is Ole Miss’s lowest rated lineman.
Give me Diego Pounds. Wish he was in the portal

I wish Diego had eligibility left.

Yes, but also he was their lowest rated lineman all year. He had flashes of good to great play, but wasn’t consistent at all. Doesn’t mean he wouldn’t be a good pickup or fit. Just tempering expectations

He’s out of eligibility? Dang!

Senior. Started Freshman and Sophomore year ago UNC. Started as a Junior and Senior at Ole Miss. He's played his 4 years.

He was a RS Sr this year.

I would be doubtful about the Michigan talk as they pulled two of their IOL back in from the portal. While it is possible, my guess is that he is more likely to start at say Texas (where the two Michigan OL were looking to go) than Michigan

and yall were wondering why we hadn’t signed any OL yet….. Yall still wondering why?
