Feels like that's a little bigger than last year. Does he look like he's filled out some?

I'm somewhat worried about placing too much on Evans. He was great last year but it's a big jump to go to Friday night ace.
And it’s year two. The book will be out on him. I see him holding that Friday spot for whomever develops into this season’s Anderson or Eyanson. We need at least one or the title is improbable. Maybe Evans stays dominant. If so he’ll need elite location.

One of my bold predictions is Jake Brown skyrocketing into a 1st round draft pick. He has a lot of tools. Just needs to prove that he can hit left on left off speed.
Arkansas will be a factor again in the SEC. They have one of the easiest schedules. They avoided LSU, Texas, Tennessee, Vandy, A&M.

Not if Texas and the SEC office have any say. From Mark Etheridge's article about the SEC schedule this year:
quote:
Texas won the SEC last season and has one of the more favorable schedules, according to the preseason picks. The five teams Texas misses are ranked (Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and LSU), and it plays all teams picked tenth or lower in the preseason.

Seems like they had a pretty easy schedule last year too. I seem to remember arkansas being their first real road test and it was like late april

They did. The SEC seems intent on giving them a soft landing in the conference. They won the SEC last year, but they were a lot of smoke and mirrors.

Looking at some of our non-conference games and who our opponents play.
RPI having a 25% weighting on Opponents Opponents win % means that we should root for Wright State to win a lot of games. They play 15 games against teams we play (6 vs Milwaukee, 2 vs Kent State, 3 vs Georgia, and 3 vs Tennessee, 1 vs Indiana). They're generally the top team in their conference.
Kent St also plays Southeastern for 3 games and Tennessee for 3 games, so there will be some good schedule connectivity there.
Milwaukee has some winnable power conference games with 4 against Duke and 2 against Minnesota. They also have single games against Purdue, Northwestern, and Notre Dame (common opponent). Those Big Ten games will be helpful if any of those team steal a game or two from the west coast teams in their conference, especially UCLA.
Sacramento State has a good schedule with 3 against Irvine to start the year and 3 against UCLA later in the year. They play Kansas for a couple as well. Their 3 game set with Creighton gives us a little schedule connectivity as well as Creighton is a common opponent.
I'm sure I'll find more to add to this as I keep looking.

Interesting note: We will have to replace our entire starting infield and outfield, more than likely, after this season. I'm not concerned, but it is interesting.

I've thought about this a lot. I think we have a good enough team to win the CWS this year. But it will take certain guys stepping up to do it. And the guys that would need to step up are mostly guys that would be back next season (a lot of pitchers, Arrambide). So it seems outrageous to say but if the guys that would need to step up for us to win a natty do it, it actually puts us in a good position to win again in 2027 based mostly on pitching.
And that's accounting for the massive projected losses on the position player side.

T Minus ~7 days until Kendall Rogers comes here to post how much better the streaming is going to be on D1, only for all of us to miss the first 6 innings Friday(2/20) afternoon in Jacksonville. He'll then offer a 10% discount ONLY to his ANNUAL content subscription that costs more than a monthly Netflix subscription (said subscription doesn't include streaming)
It's baseball season boys!

Talked to him at the first pitch banquet. He said he put on 15 lbs of muscle in the offseason.

Milwaukee should upset someone on that list. Jay mentioned in an interview that they wouldn’t have cold called LSU to get on the schedule if they didn’t project a year or two ago that their team would be strong this year.

Too early to look at but based on Jay's comments and scrimmage performances: Arrambide at C, Serna at 1st/C/DH, Ruckert at SS, Pearson at 1st/3rd, Braun at RF/1B/DH, Patrick at CF, and Harden in LF (I think he's got another year)
This gives a good core of guys that will see some playing time this year in the field if we can keep them, but playing time next year will be an easy selling point
Then you have the four outstanding sophomores (to be juniors) on the mound in Evans Schmidt, Williams, and Rizy (could go to draft) along with Ricken, Paz, and Zion...... That's nasty
This requires a lot of them to go grow up, but I'd say that's not a bad outlook considering you can fill the gaps with the portal
