If he does return we need to just throw caution to the wind and play an absurdly difficult non conference schedule. Even if we suck you will draw hundreds maybe thousands more fans. And maybe just maybe be better physically prepared for conference play. (We’ll have our usual nonsense tournament and low-major schedule.)
Why the hell not?
No one is going to show up in November to watch LSU play Alabama St. No one, except the usual suspects here, will believe going 10-2, 11-1, even 12-0 against a doo-doo schedule means anything. No one would be excited for the beginning of SEC play because they'll just understandably assume the wheels will quickly come off again. Worst case scenario, McMahon gets stuffed in the locker in Nov and Dec and no one has to waste time thinking SEC play will be any different. Best case scenario, the team's mettle is hardened in that crucible leading to maybe 6 or even 7 wins (if no adversity) in SEC play.
Of course, this is assuming a SEC honorable mention caliber player doesn't get hurt before SEC play starts. Otherwise, the clock to evaluate MM starts over.

Yep, his first year we had Michigan, Houston, Notre Dame, Marquette and Memphis. If he could replicate that it would be great.

Would easily be 0-5 with a 14 point average margin of defeat

And pull back severely on NIL. If he’s such a good coach that some claim, he’ll find a way.

The only thing that can save Mac is more NIL......he is clearly not an elite strategist, so he needs big time talent. Reading the interview Verge gave to Tiger Rag, the funds will go to football first. Because if football doesn't win big, nothing else matters. There aren't unlimited funds, so basketball will be sacrificed if necessary is the way I read it. Really hate that, but football is king.

I know it's hard for some to understand, but there is a better thought.

I like how Unlucky has made it abundantly clear that LSU men’s basketball is in the upper echelon of NIL. There are no longer any excuses for matt McMahon. Dude is a garbage coach.
While I shouldn’t have come in drunk and trolling a few nights ago, I will double down from the sauce that LSU has a great shot at bringing Pear home.

Well, I'm 56 and have a pretty good understanding of how the "sausage is made".
Just from talking to people (a lot of EYBL coaches over the last 20 years), and using common sense.
Maybe the ones you describe are in denial about what really goes on. You just can't win much without doing it or having it done for you.

And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why we are the biggest SOONER fans on earth tomorrow, and I don't give a FLYING FLUCK who doesn't like it. I have BLED P&G since 1977.

Appreciate the applause drizz, but I'm just a regular dude who can walk into an EYBL tournament and break the ice with some coaches with a few jokes, then just listen because they LOVE to talk.
I've posted on here over the years about what I was told specific players were paid under the table.
Hell, I even became decent buddies with Bruce Hornsby (a huge hoops fan), and watched the EYBL games for a few years with him.
That's the only name I can drop, because he's the only celebrity I've ever gotten to know.

Sorry buddy that excuse was used last year. He got it and turned that into being last place in the SEC. He can not win at LSU....period.

The people I know here give opinions, but also know their shite and are smart.
I can name a lot of them. BB3, Abel, JBeam. Sorry I missed more bros. I will will go on. I didn't even mention Doc.

Hear hear. Look at the BS press that came about after one measly double OT win this week. Heaven forbid this con artist goes on a “win streak” (4 games at most) and convinces the powers that be that he’s close to turning the corner when we all know that is not the case.
Boomer Sooner, baby!

So in the near impossible chance we finish 3-0, win 3 games in the SEC Tournament, finish 21-14…..you would be upset??
We have a really strange group of fans.

You do realize we're receiving an SEC payout north of $70 million this year, right?
You do realize there’s 15(?) other teams in the SEC. And if they have that revenue PLUS the extra stadium revenue, that puts them ahead of us.

Yes because that scenario would not equate to an NCAA tournament berth which seems to be the goal of every DI program except LSU.
McMahon would just be racking up meaningless wins at that point and would just be hoping to crack a 30% winning percentage for SEC games.
He is not a fit here. Sorry.

It IS unorthodox. But if they are seriously considering keeping this LOSER, the worst thing that can happen is him winning a few meaningless games at the end to con the powers that be into keeping him.
But beyond all that, YES OR NO. Do you believe this jackass can win here? If your answer is yes, just WOW!!!
If your answer is no, he needs to keep losing to insure that he's gone. This ain't Chinese arithmetic.
