How do you know that’s not what he’s doing?

I’m so done following this bullshite. Transfer portal completely ruined the beauty of college athletics and now every snot nosed brat that doesn’t play immediately because they aren’t fricking good enough takes their ball home and enters. I’m so fricking sick of it.

Honestly the raw athlete with immense talent is not allowing himself to develop anymore. Strange

if you followed baseball before you’d know shite like this always happens.

Baseball is brutal and scholarships are at a premium. Kids moved around a lot and bounced back and force a ton.

It was just JUCOs before.

Once it got to midpoint of season, we couldn’t have him out there bouncing the ball to the plate or hitting the Durham Bull. Is what it is
He's baseball Brandon Harris.

If you have no control and can't throw it over the plate, you're not going to play at LSU or anywhere else.

MLB saw it and Jay Johnson sees it.

What does he think he's going to get at another College program?

My bet is that he doesn't like and/or doesn't think his pitching Coach (Yeskie) can develop his skills.

Johnson was supposed to be a stud

Yes, was supposed to be. He had chances early in the season and wasn’t very good. The potential is clearly high but if you can’t throw the ball over the plate you’re not gonna get many outs.

You clearly didn’t watch tha games he pitched in this year. He had one decent outing where the other team bailed him out by swinging at balls. All the others were walk fests. Doesn’t mean jay doesn’t believe in his potential. It means he needs development over years like he would in the minors if he went that route. Make sure you put your helmet on before you go out in the world today

If he does end up leaving, it’s nothing more than he or his “team” does not believe Nate can develop him.

Johnson has good arm talent; however, he is just a thrower. You cannot teach anyone to throw strikes; he cannot throw strikes. Good luck to him.

Yes. You can.

Name this player.

Made 15 relief appearances in 2022 as a true freshman at Alabama, posting an 0-2 mark with a 5.68 ERA (12 ER/19.0 IP) out of the bullpen

You think he was throwing strikes?

This is posted in every thread where a player leaves. But I never see it in a thread bitching that Tommy White, Paul Skenes, Gage Jump, etc used that same transfer portal to get here.

Will be telling how he does this summer at the Cape. If he comes out throwing strikes and missing bats, then yikes.

Doubt it tho. Needs to lose ab 15lbs and tighten up the mechanics

All things considered, I was more impressed with Aiden Moffett.

While people are talking about his potential, he truly had a very long way to go. He was overweight and lost velocity quickly on top of having very little command of any pitch. While you want these guys to work out, it was obvious he wasn’t the premium arm he was touted to be. Not as large of a loss as we think once it all shakes out.

It’s unfortunate since he was such a highly rated recruit, but he was a terrible fit for this year’s pitching staff. We went in knowing we would get little to nothing from Shores and Noot and Coleman was still coming back from injury. With the lack of depth, we needed freshmen who could contribute in year one and he was never going to be able to do that.

I have seen multiple people say they are more impressed by Moffett and I don't dispute that, but he is a Sophomore versus a Freshman. I wish both would stay.

Luke Holman! That's actually not too bad. He had 24 Ks to 8 walks (19 innings). Cam had 13 Ks to 16 walks (9 innings?). I agree guys can develop and become great pitchers.

You can teach them to throw enough strikes… he will never be Paul Skenes, but he can definitely develop into a legit starter. If he gets in better shape and tweaks some mechanics I can see him making big strides. It’s all big “ifs”, but I’m willing to bet we will be taking flyers on guys with less overall talent in the portal that the coaches are hoping they can fix.
