I don’t know about best but I can tell you the most overrated. It’s Ole Miss by far.

Athens, GA or Charlottesville, VA is your answer.

Boulder, CO is also a great college town in a very different way.

Baton Rouge simply is not a college town despite having LSU.

Fayettville is a premier college town that’s beautiful. Dickson street is perfect for a strip and the hills are a cherry on top

Fayetteville blows BR away as a college town and as a place to live.

I played baseball at LSU and got undergrad and grad degree from LSU. I voted for state college.

LSU has no old town square attached to it. It shouldn’t even be in the running because of that

LSU has a chance if they would have developed the north gate area into a square, but they blew it

A college town has a campus that leads into an old town square where you could see Andy Griffith. Not a strip of bars 15 minute walk away in section 8 ghetto

It’s either Athens or Madison, WI. BR isn’t even in the discussion.

It isn't a college town at all. Penn State, on the other hand, is a pretty good college town.

Baton Rouge does well because it has the LSU brand attached as a world-class party venue.

Baton Rouge isn't a college town.

Athens, GA should be near the top of the list.

Most people on the rant have never lived anywhere but Louisiana and are convinced that the grass is always greener. Vacation in Gulf Shores been to TX a few times. BR and Louisiana suck bc I suck and the place I live must suck. Anywhere is better than BR. Hey “I spent the night in Athens it’s great.” You morons never cease to amaze me. To the OP, thanks for sharing I just voted for Baton Rouge.
I grew up in BR, graduated from LSU, lived in Fort Worth, TX, then Athens, GA, and now in an Atlanta suburb.

Sorry, but Baton Rouge is the worst place I've lived, from among those others. I truly enjoyed my LSU years there, but it's not a good city.

Athens is fantastic. That's just a fact.

LSU has great tailgating and football game campus atmosphere...

But Baton Rouge is a giant shithole!

BRLA isn't a college town. That designation belongs to towns that would shut down without the college. That ain't BRLA. Having said that, I did geaux vote. We want to win!

Yeah, I just don't get the love for Baton Rouge.

You can wander off campus, stray a couple blocks north of the Chimes, and get in a world of trouble.
From what I understand, the same thing now can happen in the Tigerland area. Used to be student housing, now dangerous.

If you had a solid strip south on Highland instead of just neighborhoods, there might be potential.
