Forgive my ignorance, but where is all this coming from? Why all of a sudden is there a concern that LSU baseball isn't receiving enough funding? Was something said or brought to light? I feel like I definitely missed something.

There were rumors all offseason that Jay was having a difficult time buying the guys he wanted in the transfer portal. Then when guys like Volchko, Mack, and Ford went elsewhere and Reece stayed put, people started to believe those rumors. I have no way of knowing if any of it is valid, but there's no doubt that this was our weakest portal haul in this era. Some of that may be attributed to Jay thinking the draft wasn't going to hit him so hard though.

Adding fuel to the fire is seeing how much $ WBB is losing and how much we're spending on football and basketball rosters, buyouts, and new staff. Money has to run low at some point

I just donated $50. Between TD and Twitter, they should be getting a nice little influx of cash in the last 24 hours.

I mean even 2-5k people on TD giving $10-20 is literally not an insignificant amount of money. Keep this going. Maybe we can try to start some matching program. Where some of us agree to match in non rich folk amounts.

Baseball has raised over $3 million in NIL in the last year. Raised $500K in one night alone at the first pitch banquet back in January all going to the NIL fund. Tell me another baseball program that can raise $500K in one night? Money isn’t an issue.

Just donated additionally to the baseball excellence fund. Anyone concerned about baseball funding should go ahead and do the same. For those who complain and add nothing to the pot my donation can be in your honor.

Each of the big sports has their own exclusive booster group/groups. This is nothing new.

It still puzzles me some seem to think any and all money for all sports comes from the $20 mill NIL allotment or a community chest of money from a common source.

Jay hinted at it numerous times during the offseason.

I would do that, but that is not going to happen. NIL is funded by a handful of people who can write huge checks.

I just gave $20. This should be pinned and everyone from Tigerdroppings should give $5-$20. It’s meaningless for many of us. We blow that going to eat but it can get Jay the GOAT what he wants even if it’s just facilities.

I normally think crowd sourcing for “student athletes” is stupid…but this one is a worthy cause. Essentially…is watching LSU baseball (on TV or in person) worth an extra $10? The answer is yes.

You don't really think this is a real threat, do you?

It is. I’ve attended two luncheons/fund raisers with Coach last year. One in February and one in October. We won the NC in the intervening time but you could not see it in October. Coach was seething over how the then AD treated him while he was in Omaha. Listening to him, you could tell the revenue sharing allocation was a BIG deal. $245K for LSU baseball was a slap in the face. That was upped to about $485K or so after the championship was won.

That amount still ranked us THIRTEENTH in the SEC. Fairly insulting for 2 NCs in 3 years don’t you think? Coach made it clear, the coaches committee is where money should go at the luncheon in February. In October, that was out. He needed NIL since there was no support from the school and revenue sharing was not what was expected. That huge amount at the Banquet was due to a lot of hard work put in by some men from those meetings.

By the way, talking around the room back in October, UT Austin and A&M were the two big worries. Apparently there was some “reaching out”. By which side, I do not know.

It is.

Not rumors.

Here’s the deal guys. NIL is not guaranteed year over year. And the rules very well may change again. But one thing is certain, money from TV contracts (read: Revenue Sharing). Coach would like to have every “scholarship” athlete in baseball to have a full scholarship like Vandy and others have done over the years. Even at half a million, after dividing it up with each player, some still have to pay the balance of tuition, books and fees. And that’s not counting room and board.
