the fact that he had Gausman and Nola on the same staff and couldn't win a title with those two is mind blowing especially when you look at their MLB careers

The worst decision in Paul’s long, storied career was taking that South Carolina job. What was he thinking??

He should do the respectable thing and resign.
He's been very adamant in the press that he retired on his own from LSU, he wasn't fired or pushed out. Wonder if he "retires" again at South Carolina to avoid the black mark of being canned.

Some of y’all really need to have a beer with some of the former players during his era, especially the ones on the championship team it’s pretty eye opening. And no these weren’t bench warmers these were star players. Hell some former top recruits that played a different sport later for LSU will tell you some wild things about even trying to get recruited by him.
Care to elaborate?

He was thinking “I still got it. I’ll prove those LSU doubters wrong.” Because he’s a narcissist.

There are usually 2 sides to every story.

He had literally nothing to gain by taking this job. His career was coming to an end and he ended it perfect... bowing out for health reasons... was spending his retirement in a sharp looking sweater vest rubbing elbows w skip at the box..... now this

If I were in Paul's shoes, I would have retired after 2021. That just seemed like the right time to end a great career. Coming back with USCe just ruined all that.

Who knows what his motivation was for jumping back in. May have needed the money. Wouldn't be the first LSU coach to get burned with some bad investments.

Isn’t simpletons a tire shop on Airline Hwy? They use to give the time at the top of the hour on Buckskin Bill’s channel.

I have been a big fan since the Skip and Turtle Thomas days. CPM did take out Texas in the CWS for a title - no small thing there. There were some years where he’d make a lineup change mid-season and the team would rattle off ~20 games in a row. He could get teams hot for the SEC tourney.
However, I kinda remember him more for throwing players under the bus with the media, specifically by name, which I just thought was weird…. So last year towards the end of a dismal season at USCe, CPM says something like “well, we just don’t have the talent across the board to compete in the SEC”. And I was like “true, but you don’t say that out loud.” and “you are the coach, are you coaching them?” He’s just a strange cat…

The day he was hired at South Carolina, I told all of my Gamecock friends they would regret this hire!! Feel bad for them.

Nola was a freshman in 2012. It wasn't until 2013 and 2014 when he started putting up silly numbers and was untouchable. We were not great at the plate in 2012. Rhymes had his milestone season, but outside he and Katz, we were pretty meh. The only reason we had the record we did was because of the pitching staff.
