re: How did the pundits get this QB class so wrong

I think Klubnik is better than the offense is showing. He doesn't seem to have any WRs who can get separation. That might also be because their offense is predictable
They also can't run the ball. Their starting HB is a converted receiver.

Well Nuss is hurt, so that's the reason he isn't living up to his hype.
They had nothing to base that hype on though. He wasn’t good last year. It took a miracle to keep him from losing the USCe and OM games for us.
He’s a regular dude who happens to have a great arm. He’s not a QB.
Maybe his injury is making him suck more but I wouldn’t bank on him being a great QB if he ever heals. Should’ve taken a medical redshirt because he ain’t getting drafted any time soon.

Only if you listen to people who don't coach the team
Well those same people didn’t even mention the injury until yesterday, when it has obviously been affecting Nuss for several weeks now…

Well that’s certainly an opinion

Arch has been truly terrible. It's to the point with Arch where I almost feel bad for the guy.
II wouldn't go that far, especially with the way his family has ignored any consideration for attending LSU even though they have lived in New Orleans for decades.

It sounds like Nuss needs more than a few weeks off. Hopefully he wont play this weekend and just rests up.

Well if you watched Klubnik and Allar vs any competition, you’d understand they were fools gold and sucked against actual ranked teams. Arch…yeah hyped to the moon
a lot of these analysts are not good at their job.
Nuss is injured.
Lanoris struggling a bit has been a surprise.
Mateer is who I wanted in the portal if Nuss ended up declaring, but luckily he didn’t.

Maybe we don’t win a national championship. But I think Nuss is a future 2x Super Bowl winner.
Where do yall come up with this shite?

What? He does not play the position well at all.
Honestly, LSU being 3-0 with Nussmeier reminds me of when LSU went 3-0 with Andrew Hatch before the Auburn game.

Are we actually planning on playing Van Buren for the majority of this weekend or is that folks here trying to manifest that into existence?
1. If he's injured like they say, you need him for a championship run. Why in the hell would you play him hurt at all vs SELU when you can get him rested for a week, and then have him ready to practice on the 2nd week? The man has 850 career passes, he'll be alright.
2. WE. NEED. TO. GET. THE. BACKUP. QBS. REPS. Myles Brennan got reps during Burrow's heisman year. And although he had a poor game vs Miss St the next year, his next 2 games before injury were heisman worthy numbers. Nuss got reps during that bad 2021 season and both of Jayden Daniels season. As a matter of fact, he had over 220 passes to his name before he became a starter last year. Buren and Hurley need the reps in this systere. They needs the live reps. There is only one other game they will have a chance to get live reps.

Arch was actually decent last year when he got playing time, looked a lot better than this year.
It was usually in clean up time though.
Maybe the pressure from all the smoke in the off season, pre season team rank #1 and the starting roll got in his head.
He can't be this bad after all the talent evaluators had him so high CAN HE ?

I've said since high school that that was the most overrated kid i had ever seen in my life and that included that Johnny Manziel wannabe that went to Ohio St some years back. Manning was all hype from his last name. Scouts were just straight up lying about what they were seeing and the majority of them couldn't name anything that made him a 5 star #1 overall. Peyton and Eli were his UNCLES, not his father. His father was the athlete, hence why he can run and not pass well. He was mid as hell in a low tier high school league and was scared or told not to by his family to participate in any of the competitions. Hell even his father said he only saw Peyton and Eli 1-3 times a year, so what the hell could he have even learned? Although he doesn't act like it, the media and recruiting services have given him the life and luxury of a typical spoiled brat. Nothing he did in high school warranted his payouts and neither did what he did before at Texas.
quote:I'm starting to have doubts on that. He's supposedly injured, but we're gungho about throwing him out there against SELU. Sounds like an excuse to let his below average performance slide.
Nuss is injured.
quote:I knew it would happen and said so in the offseason. I remember arguing with a USCe fan when he tried to say USCe knows what it's doing with WRs and that he has options at WR. The dude doesn't have any talent around him outside of the Harbor dude and the transfer RB is pretty fast. I knew that defense was going to take a step back too. I actually look at things.
Lanoris struggling a bit has been a surprise.
quote:We'd look like the #1 team in America by a country mile if we got Mateer AND brought along his OC like Oklahoma did.

I would assume so based off what Kelly said. If he is actually injured and hasnt been able to throw deep & well, why would we play him though? Clearly he is limited

Don't know what they saw where they said this was going to be a generational QB class!
Something people have to great straight about literally everything from sports to politics is that because SOMEONE says something does not means it’s some universal THEM.
Generational QB class is pure hyperbole and it’s said so often it’s completely meaningless. Nuss and Klubnik were 2 returning starters that have flashes upside and naturally viewed as top starters. Manning was hyped based on his skills, HS rating and yea his name. There is no accountability so people can pump up a player and if they are right, great if not it just gets lost in the next news cycle

I agree with this. I liked what I saw of him; they just don’t have the talent around him at WR or RB.

Klubnik was actually really good last year and Arch was always overrated on purpose.
Klubnik was good against crap teams. Their schedule last year was pathetically easy. They played 4 ranked teams including bowl game and lost three. SMU was their only win. The rest of ACC is bad.
So far, they have played two ranked teams and lost To both. As of today, there is only one ranked teams left on the schedule, FL ST. Jury is out on him.
Nussmeier, same thing, played 4 ranked teams last year and lost three. Only difference is how you would rate unranked SEC competition vs unranked ACC competition. He looked good at Clemson, but a big stretch is coming and he may be limited because of injury.
Arch is in the learning curve. I think the expectations are too high for his first year starting, but he will get better. He probably bought into the hype and now realizes it takes tremendous effort to be a good SEC QB. Time will tell
Posted on 9/16/25 at 5:10 pm to rltiger
Yeah Klubnik is not a good passer against good teams, that’s why I’m not sold on him. He threw for some empty stats against Texas in the playoffs last year and that was his best passing game against a ranked team. Same with Allar. They’re both great athletes and can get by with their running ability but when they run into legit defenses, things go sideways real quick.
