yeah and petersen and jimbo had high win % also then. as CUm and saban. should i continue?

Please do continue - because right now you’re saying Les was a top 5 coach.. thus proving my point. And Petersen is definitely a notch below because, well, Boise State. Jimbo was comparable but slightly below Les’ accomplishments. Saban & Meyer were above. So Les was top 3.

Les gets the hate because he wasn’t Nick Saban. Newsflash - no one else is either.

…and you’re really going to compare Boise State’s coach with their cupcake schedule?

Coach Miles was one of the most genuine and nicest guys around. He deserved to be treated better and with more class than the administration gave him.

LSU shouldn’t vacate any wins.

It is ok to pay players now.

He was told by his boss, the A.D., that he had to make changes in his offense. Then he took 30K+ fans with him to a dream game in Lambeau Field & first snap,,, there was Fournette lined up in the I; one yard gained off tackle. Then again. etc etc etc That's either stupid, ignoring his boss, or just super stubborn. Then his " messing around" with young LSU coeds, to whatever extent that was......no, sharing morals with Curley Hallman does not earn him a place in my HOF. His riding an authentic great coach's, Mike Leach, coattails into the HOF itself, again, no thank you. But: an honest question: were he to be introduced to the crowd in T.S. any pre game, how would he be received?

Some of the most exciting games that I have watched as a fan over the past 50 years were during the Miles era. I will always have an appreciation for what he accomplished while coaching LSU.

He is STILL my favorite LSU coach. But, at the time he was let go, it was time. His refusal to change that offense was his undoing. I knew after that opening game in 2016 against Wisconsin, that it was time to move on. He wasted the talent on that team.............................

Some men feel, like all short men, they just have no reason to live once they start going bald or turning gray. Maybe BK can have a Les Miles Appreciation Day to boost his spirits. In the very least, maybe BK can pick up some grass and chew on it from time to time.

truly believe if he changed with the times on offense he would still be here

In theory, he could have won with his old-style offensive system. The problem was he couldn't recruit top-level QB to play in a system that wasn't what they would see in the NFL. Guys want to get prepared for the next level. So, we generally had inferior QBs in the Miles era, especially in the later years.

Then I remember Lee, Jefferson, Harris, Jennings, and Etling struggling to complete a pass for more than 4 yards.

For a few years there it was an epic achievement for us to complete a 15 yard pass. I recall many games with under 150 yards passing.

It took me a while but it was the 2016 Wisconsin loss for me. Publicly promised changes on offense and didn't deliver.

he underachieved greatly. he had 7 teams with natty talent and he blew it on all but one.....05, 06, 07, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2016.

2005- breaking in a new coach and no bye weeks due to Katrina. Plus, there was no way LSU was ever cracking the two 2 bc USC-UT were locked in.

2006- yes, I agree with this one. We were robbed at Auburn and the UF game was just a sloppy mess. The offense was good but still underachieved. But still, 11-2 ain’t bad.

2010- we lacked the QB to win big

2011- we went as far as any team possibly could without a good QB. That was hardly an underachieving season.

2012- this team probably underachieved, but losing honey badger hurt. Lost to Bama on a miracle play.

2016- yeah

2012 and esp 2016 were definitely hampered by bad offense. If we don’t lose honey badger, we probably beat Bama in 2012 and everything changes.

Rewriting history. LF gained 3yds on 1st play, 4yds on 2nd and Harris 0yds on 3rd.
In fact LF had a 15yd run to get LSU in FG range to win it on last possession and then a Harris INT lost that game.

Les was a clown who did less with his talent than any coach alive.

We had a good offense in 12, we had Hill and Met was slinging it around. That team was good.

In 2010, an LSU QB did not pass for over a 100 yards in 6 games.

And somehow Miles found a way to win 5 of those 6.

Jesus lol. And I remember after such a win, half the Rant is screaming about the shite passing game while the other half is arguing lsu doesn’t need to throw to win.

Glad we pass now.

If you vacate the wins you have to vacate the loses also.

those are the ones who fought to keep Les around for 4 years too long. They were blinded from reality.
