A lot of people on here forgot this was his first year at the helm.

You guys are fools. Nuss is not better than Burrow as a first year starter.
You’re right. Burrow had Jefferson and Marshall III and others to help including an experienced run game (center specifically).
Nuss has nobody compared to what both Daniels and Burrow had. Burrow showed his mobility in the last game of the season versus Texas A&M.
The scheme does matter as does everything else.
There are throws Nuss made this year that were far better than Burrow’s his first year. Of course, Joe didn’t have as much time in the system but he had better QB coaching at tOSU with Day and Urban. Not sure if Herman coached him or not.
All people are saying is Nuss HAD to throw the ball more as short passes were part of the run game due to the inability of the Oline to be able to zone block and beat their man. Some of that had to do with Chester as a first time starter at center and the injuries to both Dellinger and Frazier.
Nuss is plenty fast enough to decide to run. He needs to flip that switch.

We all know the arm talent is there, decision making needs to improve
What are the options if no receiver can get open. Nabers and/or Thomas , or Boutte were always open. That is why he had such an outstanding game vs Georgia a couple years ago. Georgia was the no 1 defense in the country at that time.

Are we talking about a different Joe Burrow? The one I know ran for like 600 yards and was as fast as some DBs. No, Nuss isn't as fast as JB, but he doesn't need to be.

1. We run a completely different offense now than 2018 2. Burrow protected the ball and only threw 4 interceptions.
You’re right; he ran an offense that didn’t require him to make a ton of plays. It’s also okay to admit that he was just okay in 2018

Every ranter remembers Burrow but never his 2018 season.

Maybe some good stats, but he’s an interception machine. In order to get to Burrow/Daniels status , he has to cut down on the bad interceptions.

JB and JD processed faster or took the easier reciever first
What’re you even talking about??? Yeah, Burrow didn’t process any faster in 18 and Daniel’s’ first year here, if his first receiver in site wasn’t open, he panicked and ran.

Give him a WR1 in the portal, fix his OL, get a new OC and everything will be golden with him next year. I'm assuming and hoping Jones/Daniels stay. If Nuss stays hopefully he lives in the VR room like Daniels did which supposedly helped his field vision.

This game felt like the Burrow UCF game. We saw Nuss fricking running after dying out there. I was thinking where the frick this did come from? Nuss is quick! Run more!

Burrow didn't show us much of his scrambling his initial year at LSU. His improvement in passing was due to a ton of hard work and independent time with receivers.

Chris Hilton showed the flash we’d hoped for last night. He can take the top off, I also wouldn’t sleep on Parker and Jenkins.

Nah man. This is the rant. Most here recognize that Nuss cannot improve year over year despite evidence showing it is in fact not just possible but extremely likely.

You’re right but you can’t just ignore all the positives and claim the negatives are everything. Both other QBs also had negatives in year 1 but because of year 2 they’ve all been forgotten by alot of people. Yes he needs to cut down on the turnovers but in the other areas he’s ahead of both the guys he’s being compared to.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on this one. If you’re right he’s doing a helluva job of hiding it.
That was the point of my post. He is athletic and he is very mobile in the pocket.
But he clearly doesn’t want to run even when it’s there. He seems to prefer running backward than forward.
But that doesn’t mean he isn’t athletic. He just makes bad decisions.

Nuss is the man! If he's not back next year might be a looooong season
Posted on 12/1/24 at 11:52 am to Boudreauboudreaugoly
A lot of his success is having an experienced line in pass protection. He is not very mobile so they better get a stout O line.
