They did miss their blocks, but it still doesn’t excuse an utterly atrocious play call by Sloan.
That play had 99% chance of failure even if those guys don’t whiff on their blocks.

Donovan Green and offensive lineman Bo Bordelon (in the TE position) are the best blocking tight ends. Sharp and T. Green are horrible blockers. I mean really bad.

the biggest problem in all of that is the exchange of the handoff 6 yard behind the los. we can barely run the ball 3 yards at a time much less run it 9. its asinine to call a run play in that spot to begin with because nothing in the first month of the season tells you that you can run it when you need to, but lets go ahead and triple the distance that we need to run it.

We can put a better version but you don’t pay portal transfers millions to come here to sit and they aren’t as good as we thought.
When does it become coaching, because we had 4 nfl players last year and they were still whiffing blocks.

Why even try such a play ?!?! We hadn’t been able to run the ball for shite the whole game but some Genius on the sideline thinks this slow developing play is going to turn the trick ?!?

?!? It’s not slow developing ?!?

They have been stonewalling us the whole game and this is the play you go with ?!?

The play design is actually creative and id imagine we can’t run the ball because of the offensive line
Good plays are the ones your players can execute

They are bad but that moron is completely blind.
Moore knocked Echols down and it looked almost intentional.
It looked like “Bitch! Get off the man I’m supposed to block”
It’s a collection of follies but really it starts with Kelly and then Sloan. Davis hasn’t been good, but has been in charge of the OL for 4 years. They haven’t been awful for four years.
Again, when you don’t pick a main blocking scheme approach (zone vs man blocking) and keep trying to flip back and forth, that’s on the OC and HC. It’s not on anyone else.

You are a broken record. For literally YEARS LSU won with poor to average QB play and talent. But the coaches always had a way to mask those weaknesses to an extent and maximize what they had.
If you haven’t noticed, this is a team game. Effort, talent, coaching, etc. have all contributed more or less equally to these breakdowns.
If you’re going to put the majority of the blame somewhere, it is on the coaches for evaluation of talent, personnel decisions, development, play calls, etc. Everything begins and ends there.

Hester and Flynn talked about it on the radio today, and they said something I have thought since last year. There is a LOT of pre-snap talking by the LSU offense. Checks, changing plays, discussing protection, etc. Now, some communication to that effect is normal and necessary. But LSU seems to do more than most. Their conclusion was that maybe the offense is trying to be too perfect..which is leading to paralysis by analysis.
I'm sure Nuss, a 5th year senior and son of an NFL OC, has a very high knowledge level of the game. But, perhaps, at some point when you try to communicate on the fly and get everything into the perfect play/protection you get to a spot where guys are thinking too much and hesitating. Obviously college football has advanced over the decades. But it's still college football. You're not dealing with pros of have years of experience playing football as a full time job.
I don't think LSU's OL players, for two years, are just physically unable to make blocks. Nor do I think ALL 10-15 guys who have played along the OL for the last 2 years are simply "dumb". But if guys are constantly missing assignments, isn't it the coaches' jobs to figure out why? It may be simply these guys are so overwhelmed. So "overcoached" that they aren't firing off quickly or reacting quickly because they are constantly confused and/or thinking about what they should be doing rather than just playing.

Look where the handoff is. The NINE yard line and this is several seconds after the snap. Horrible.

There’s literally zero reason to run that play call in that situation knowing our inept oline play and a QB playing RB. Just a horrendous play call all around. Joe Sloan is a loon.

Mid-season and we are still sucking on the OL. I would say 4 losses are in order. CBK should have built an OL like he did the defense from the portal. But, he waited to late and now we are stuck with this OL. What the hell does Davis do? I have not seen any improvement. Maybe they play better with MVB instead of Nuss. Either way the OL sucks and will continue to.
