You can’t read too much into these early season cupcake games. Lots of tinkering.

I’m not here to shite on you but I did give you your 51st downvote.

We will be fine. We are walking a lot of guys but we have several of pitchers with very good/elite stuff. (Rizi, Schmidt, Evans, Moore, Cowan, etc.) They need to get ahead in counts and they will be just fine. This happens every year. Once they get some confidence in throwing strikes early in the count and trusting their stuff and the defense behind them we will be ok.

I really enjoy the April and May freakouts when LSU loses a series or two.

Most K’s EVER for a weekend! Truly a moment that will live in tigah fans hearts for infamny and here you are complaining about garbage! How about I’m concerned for other teams feelings for how much Jay and his MEN will dominate this year!

“Infamy” is “Being in a state of extreme dishonor or disgrace”. Last weekend’s strikeout total might live in infamy for Milwaukee fans but certainly not for LSU fans.

You cant take anything away from 1 weekend of college baseball, you honestly still wont know a ton after OOC play is done. It takes getting weeks into SEC play until you truly get the makeup of a team.

Baseball is a highly variable sport

For example we probably cant expect Brown to average a HR a game for the rest of the season.

Likewise I doubt our starting pitchers will average around a 9 ERA outside of Moore the rest of the season

Came here just to downvote the title. For Christ sakes, we are 4 games in. CJJ will have this under control soon enough. It is an experiment at this point. Kick rocks.

Questioning anything Jay does 4 games into the season is borderline retarded

No concern until Conference play. CJJ will continue to experiment with these out of conference games. This happens every year. Trust the process

Stats don’t lie

Stats are inherently neutral. The bias comes in how they're collected, interpreted, and implemented.

For instance, you're trying to create panic based on a 4 game sample size.

Have you not watched how Jay manages the season?

Its not just Jay, it is how good baseball coaches with good teams manage a season. You have to find out early in the season who you can depend on late in the season to get you to a championship. Good high school teams do it. It's not some secret.

Same thing tends to happen in MLB. Hitting almost always dominates pitching in the beginning, but then pitchers settle in. Especially when the weather starts to warm up.

There is a question about the pitching. Some new guys, and some established guys in new roles. But then again, we had some of the same questions last year, too.

It will all play out.

No. LSU is playing 8 games in the first 10 days of the season. Add in the fact that we have had big leads in 3/4 games and that will affect pitching decisions as well. Many of these guys will not be seeing meaningful innings come SEC play.

Would you want the team playing lights out now or in May/June?

If history is any indicator

We will be bitching about pitching until the sec tournament, then pitchers who’ve been struggling all season will suddenly start looking like Greg Maddux

Jay, just like Skip, uses most of the regular season as a try out for playoffs

Games early in the season are basically about finding out who you can't trust later.

The dudes who are not throwing strikes will end up at the bottom of the barrel because we have plenty of guys why can throw strikes.

not concerned. i think that is where the game is now. we are going to see more strikeouts and more HRs from all teams across the league/ncaa. with the exception being kentucky. they're scrappy.

2025 K/BB ratio 2.82

2026 K/BB ratio 4.57

Also 0.46 BB per IP in 2025. 0.42 BB/IP in 2026.

Competition obviously will pick up but overall the numbers look great.
