re: Joel Klatt on Brian Kelly

We knew what Kelly was. He would go 9-3 to 11-1 every year while only playing 4 teams with a heartbeat. Every time he had to play an SEC team. He had a losing record to top 25 teams, and was 4-11 vs. top 10. Why take a 60 year old who has proven he can’t win the big one?

It's already been proven by ND fans, alumni and boosters that ND didn't want to put up the money needed to compete with the top programs of the country. It was part of the reason BK left after feeling he reached his ceiling there. When he left, that's when ND started putting up more money because they felt as though they had been played and made to look the fool and that's one thing that those smug frickers hate.
This is too much for people to wrap their minds around. It’s easier to just say Kelly is a clown and Freeman is the second coming of Lombardi.
Recruiting rankings then vs. now don’t mean shite because literally everything has changed.
Kelly has no natty. Freeman has no natty. In the end, that’s all that’s going to matter. Somebody is either gonna get one and win this argument, or not.

Never been a fan of Joel Klatt. Go back to 2019 and he flip flopped on LSU hard lol he went from a non-believer all year to after we beat Georgia claiming he was a believer the whole time. Hes a big 10 guy and really question what he knows about other conference teams.

No offense, but what are you talking about? The National sports media has openly hated BK since the minute he decided to leave ND.

I love how whenever we disagree on something a reporter says, we go back and list all the reasons we hate that person, lol
Never change, TD.

Not sure what to make of this one now that we are in the NIL era.
I also think that in the NIL/Portal era you have to factor transfers in as part of recruiting. Not sure of Klatt is taking that into account but it’s one of the only things BK has done well.

Klatt is being intellectually dishonest and he knows it.
The recruiting rules during those two stretches have changed dramatically. Freeman has a much easier job at ND than CBK at ND as it pertains to recruiting.

Also, let me remind you at this point in the season, ND and LSU both have 2 losses with LSU's schedule being much more difficult - so yea, they're CLEARLY in a much better spot with Freeman.
You were on a roll until this point. They've played pretty similar schedules and LSU has 2 of Notre Dame's opponents on its schedule in A&M and Arkansas.
Notre Dame Schedule:
L @ #10 Miami (#9)
L vs #16 A&M (#3)
W vs Purdue (UR)
W @ Arkansas (UR)
W vs Boise State (UR)
W vs NC State (UR)
W vs #20 USCw (UR)
LSU Schedule:
W @ #4 Clemson (UR)
W vs LA Tech (UR)
W vs Florida (UR)
W vs SELU (UR)
L @ #13 Ole Miss (#8)
W vs USCe (UR)
L @ #17 Vanderbilt (#10)

This is so dumb.
BK was 42-6 his last 4 years, 21-3 in his last 2. Freeman is 38-12.
LSU was 11-12, BK is 34-13.
Not really comparable situations.

Brian Kelly was 42-6 in has final 48 games at ND.
And of those 42 wins, only 9 were against top25 opponents. All the losses were against top 10 oppenents.

CBK needs to stop all this shite with a solid performance to end the season. Lose to A&M and this will all take on a life of its own - nationally.
Oh it's already started, the CBS football guys were sounding off after that Vandy loss particularly Brian Jones and Aaron Taylor, Neuheisel's kind of part of the college football coaching fraternity so he kept his take pretty contained by comparison but the foundations are already in place

Joel Klatt put Chase Young over Joe Burrow on his Heisman ballot. His opinion should be ignored.

Joel Klatt is the meghan kelly of college football pundits. Annoying as hell and casual love them.

I don't know enough about him to dislike him, but his comparison to ND w/ Freeman is pretty objective. No?

I am not suggesting freeman isn’t a better recruiter, but Kelly has recruited well. Coaching up the talent has been the problem.

National press is just looking to exploit narratives for content. It doesn’t mean it’s not true, but it’s also not how I’d justify the content
