Nahh he was going to Florida for sure.

No. Just no.
Yes, there was some initial mutual interest. Florida botched it, LSU fired BK, and it was over before it ever really began.

I don’t care what the bald know it all boasts to know.

The 4th team was definitely Florida State. I thought that was known.

Florida screwed themselves over with the requirement of the football GM to answer to the AD and not head coach. Kiffin wasn't going there to be micromanaged and undermined. No way he was going to Florida with those terms, he would have stayed in Oxford first.

Honestly I don't believe Kiffin leaves Ole Miss if LSU doesn't offer him the job. The other jobs are good but not better than where he was at ole miss. LSU is where he wanted to be.

FSU is a bigger rebuild than we are. The facilities aren’t as good, there is less overall stability in football over the last decade, and they aren’t bringing in anywhere close to the same money being in the ACC.

As for the portal, they were early going all-in and spending to get talent, but they can’t keep up with the top teams now that everyone is spending money for talent.

LSU is the best job for Kiffin, at least for now!

Josh Pate knows nothing.

It's amazing that he has now landed a recurring "expert" guest on ESPN.

FSU is no longer a power program. It's back to its pre-Bowden days. Sure Fisher had some good years after Bowden but the ACC was just as weak then as it is now.

I've seen fsu, Penn st, and UCLA mentioned in media since he came here. The reason I'd go with fsu because he would have been throwing their administration under the bus if he named dropped them in the presser that they were negotiating with him while norvell is/was still the active coach. Why else not say the program publicly unless you're protecting someone. Which is cool on lane's part

That’s common knowledge once fsu was revealed as the 4th team to pursue Kiffin.

Would’ve been silly to get Kiffin and not fire Norvell

Hell, if they hired BK right now, it would be an upgrade over Norvell.

It was Florida State who was the mystery 4th team, and they were willing to walk on Norvell if they got Kiffin.

Thought this was common knowledge on here by now.

Yeah, this was reported by ESPN way back in early December:

ESPN - Kiffin Final Days at Ole Miss

Last month, as some of the biggest college football brands pursued Ole Miss' Lane Kiffin, a staff member polled the team's assistant coaches about where they wanted to be in the 2026 season.

The coaches discussed four options: Remain at Ole Miss, where they had built a legitimate College Football Playoff contender; leave for SEC rivals Florida or LSU; or take over Florida State, which according to people with knowledge of the search, was making a stealth move to poach Kiffin.

I don’t think he would have jumped to Florida if we didnt open. He wanted total control like he had in ole Miss and Florida wanted to pull a fat Scott and dictate hires to him specifically the Gm.
