What would this board have said a month ago when we thought it would be between Sorsby or Levitt?

What division is Elon in ?

This is just like Ole Miss last year in the portal. Get a talented D2 guy to backup who you plan on being QB1.
With the injury to Leavitt the risk is probably more than Simmons was at OM, but I trust CLK's talent evaluation 100% when he plucks somebody like Chambliss from D2. He knows what he needs and he spots it easily.

Agreed. It win be a fun ride
Lane's ability to get good qbs is the medicine lsu needs. It all starts with a good qb.

They’re Division I - FCS. It amazes me on a sports forum how few people realize FCS is just Div 1-AA from yesteryear. In other words Clark already has a leg up on Chambliss who did, in fact, come from Div II - Ferris State

Oh ok I though Elon was d2.

Edit: Do some of y'all think he's going to be the starter?
We just saw the Chambliss story unfold this past season. We don't have a QB room yet, so it sure feels premature to be confident about a depth chart yet. We will have 3 or 4 new guys. Kiffin sure seems open minded about trusting what he,sees on the practice field.

If you think that’s the norm, idk what to tell you. Also, the only reason Chambliss became the starter was because Simmons got injured. They brought in Chambliss hoping that he would never have to take a meaningful snap.

Dude, it is,January and we currently have a QB room of 1. Quit acting like you know this guy will not start. Nobody knows. Leavitt would be a front runner if he comes and if he is healthy, but there are no guarantees.

I’m not saying he will 100% not start. It’s very unlikely though imo. They just aren’t planning on him being the starter. Not sure why you have a problem with that statement.

You come off as too confident that he will not be the starter. I am seeing a competition developing in practice and believe Kiffin will be open to any of the guys we eventually have becoming the starter.
We know we will likely have more than 1 guy added that will be paid more than whatever Clark accepted, so the guy will have to excel in the off-season to have a good shot at starting. We agree on this.

Do we like this?
He's the best QB on the roster right now so we LOVE it.

That’s because I am confident. I believe that he was brought in to be be the backup, just like how Chambliss was brought in to Ole Miss to be the backup.

I don’t know that I agree with this, but I suppose it’s possible. I certainly wouldn’t say it’s “likely”
