We have no sitting LSU President, so he's going to have an oversized role until then.

I'm a conservative who is not a big Landry fan, but I don't think he's overreaching right now.
We have no sitting LSU President, so he's going to have an oversized role until then.
Here's what's going to happen, based on observation and ear to the ground:
1. We'll officially hire McNeese Prez as LSU President by early next week.
2. Woodward will be given his walking papers.
3. New AD will be named quickly. Some say it's the McNeese AD, but I doubt it. Too big a role for him.
4. New President and AD will pick new coach. And yes, there will already be some feelers out to potential coaches, even this week. But, I don't think Landry is strong-arming any of that.
That's all a reasonable summation. I know for a fact there was some push in the spring to basically push the McNeese prez to LSU with the cherry on top/PR stunt for the fans (i.e. "voters") being Wade coming with him to LSU. Landry isn't a major basketball fan. But he IS an attention seeker and being the guy who gave the masses what he perceived they wanted, Wade back at LSU, was enticing to him. Obviously, that didn't happen, but it did expedite Tate's exit.
The only thing I disagree with on your list is #4, that Landry will be hands off and let the new President (possibly new AD) have autonomy to pick their guy. He won't, at least initially. He wants to be the "hero" of Louisiana by giving the masses what they want in the new football coach. That means the list right now is two poll tested names: Saban and Kiffin. If and when he strikes out on both, chaos may ensue because there won't be a consensus as to the third choice. But to think he's going to be "hands off" is wrong.

Welp
Just as I sit here, Urban Meyer has a podcast out talking about it
He makes no bones about it being an issue if the Governor WAS involved.
Meyer has been all over the country and had lots of coaching jobs and he makes it clear that he would have to avoid a job where the Governor was involved

You want advice from Urban Meyer on anything other than identifying a high school QB he can work with to become a good college QB?
Man, if you only knew

Not when it comes to sports related matters.
There is absolutely no reason why Landry should be involved in anything football related
Make a call to the board head who makes a call to the AD and make wishes known. Don’t micro manage.
Imagine a coach having to coach under the microscope of politics.
Oh shoot, we lost to UAB, the public is outraged and wants me run out of town, so the Governor, who wants to be popular, runs me out of town….

I don’t understand why people in Louisiana continue to vote in dipshits for public office. Really mind blowing.
Letting a guy like Landry, who’s only interested in benefiting himself, meddle in this whole thing is nothing but trouble.

He’s one of the most well respected voices in college football. He has an incredible record.
Yes, I listen to him.
Glad you’re not making football decisions

We couldn’t have fired BK without Landry.
So yes he was needed, we do not have a president.

Wrong
quote:Now let's get back to the main point of my comment. Yes, LSU does not have a president. It would be a part of Landry's scope to be in that hiring process. But then it SHOULD stop there. I'm not saying it will.
we do not have a president.
But once a president is in place Landry SHOULD be out of it. It would then be the place of the president to hire an AD. And the AD would be the main cog of hiring a head coach.

You were the guy singing the praises of the garbage new mayor Bogalusa who’s since been indicted on all kinds of shite.

Is he really meddling or is he just using this as a PR op like he does everything else.
He is doing both. It is his MO. But he will pull back or dig in based on what he perceives as public sentiment of his base. So he could screw this up royally on the negative side, I do not think there is much he could do that ends up being a positive, other than if he helped precipitate the firing. And that is an if, not a given.

I thought the governor was always involved with this decision. Or maybe the governor just picks the board who picks the president.

Dude, get ready. He's cleaning house, and Woodward's days are numbered.

He is but Landry has the wrong letter by his name so certain “LSU fans” hate him.

What is going on is out of Landry's league. The big money (Graves, Spaht, Lipsey-Aronson) are all Episcopal HS or Catholic HS grads. As is Woodward. Woodward's circle of friends is too vital to LSU. None of them care what Landry is doing. Landry is just trying to make it appear he has some kind of stroke.

He's good looking is why he still has a voice in CFB
There's reasons he is no longer coaching
You know enough just to have a bad opinion. He won games, and he damn well knew who he could work with at the QB position and prepare him to run his offense, but that in no way translates to giving advice on off the field areas
But that's off topic anyway. Not sure how you wanted this to play out, but Woodward wasn't getting a third try at making the most important decision that his job requires when striking out badly on the first two attempts.

Landry is acting as university President for now since there isn’t one. I don’t think he’s going to be doing technical interviews with coaching candidates.
