I mean not sure how you can disagree with the statement. They shot the lights out, we couldn't get anything to fall. I didn't think we were getting bad looks, either.

Each game McMahon coaches is one game closer to the end of this debacle

A McSpecial. He is the Brad Davis of basketball. I’m not quite sure what the players are taught during practice.

Meh...when your shooters can't make a shot, those rebounds go to the defense mostly. Missed shots=defensive rebounds=getting out rebounded

Sssssoooo, how do you explain that Texas Tech had more offensive rebounds than LSU did?

I wish that was the only reason LSU was blown out.
They shot 13/27 and we shot 4/24. Bring them down to 35% and us up to 31% and you have a really close game.
Im not sold on us being good or bad, but we have shot 31% beyond the arc this year and our opponents 33%.

To have a team come out and shoot almost 50% from 3 will be hard to beat if they are pretty good all around.

We are really going to miss Reed again this year. Cut down on turnovers and keep working on the glass. We have given up 100 offensive rebounds in spite of playing teams we are far more talented than.

You could post the full quote

quote:

"They really assaulted the three-point line in the first half. They hit some tough ones late in the clock, but then we missed a couple of assignments, and they made us pay. When you look at the game, we got outscored 27 points from behind the arc and that was the difference in the game. I thought offensively we hurt ourselves some in the first half. We missed some scoring opportunities around the rim, their physicality really bothered us there; a couple of turnovers led to some transition disadvantage situations where they really made us pay."

Look I don’t think MM will be here next season but when a team , TT,just throws up shots and they all go in that’s one of those games. They couldn’t miss,we’ve all seen games like that.LSU had been shooting the ball pretty well until Sunday. The Tigers are far from very good but will win some games they’re not supposed to.

His other quote
quote:

"There's disappointment, but our players need to know that we have a good team. There're certainly no excuses, but this is our third game away from home in nine days. I thought we looked a little fatigued, so we've got to evaluate some things there, but give credit to Texas Tech. I thought they were outstanding. We did not answer the bell in the first half, and therefore they were able to dominate the game."

I’m not convinced this team is done for after one bad game. Jury will be out in January

I think that's where you start to get into the strength of schedule debate. On the season as a whole your numbers are right. But in the last two games, one vs. an ACC team and another vs a Big 12 team, the gap is much, much wider. BC/TTU shot a combined 43%. LSU in those games shot a combined 16%

Hopefully that's just a small sample two games of really, really bad shooting by LSU combined with really good shooting by opponents. But right now the trends, albeit with limited data, are going in a bad, bad direction.

IF you can't shoot, you rarely can win in BB. LSU has no offensive scorers that are consistent. Hot and cold, look good one game, and awful the next. It appears that will be the team once again this year at LSU and will wind up at the bottom on the league again.

Last 2 games we've shot poorly from 3. No doubt TT was hot, but they also had some really good looks. LSU also had good looks, just didn't make any of them. Max has been in a slump or he just isn't good enough at this level (that will be a huge key). I was also hoping King would look better shooting the ball. Somebody has to step up and hit shots to take some pressure off Thomas. Good teams can take 1 or 2 players away, but not if others are making them pay for it.
Still just 1 game. Let's see what happens against SMU. We get boat raced again, then it will be a long painful SEC again this year.

Well, if you just look at the stat sheet, he’s not wrong, they shot 50+% I think and LSU was around 20 something percent. But, if you watch the game, they weren’t competitive, got out muscled and the game TT played was executed at a high level. All things LSU didn’t do.

I agree. And as one of the few guys that like McMahon I just don’t see anything different. Yes we aren’t terrible. But without Reed and a consistent outside threat we simply will falter like years past. I just can’t understand how we can’t find shooters.

I've been firmly in the camp since then end of year 1 that McMahon wasn't ever going be a guy to bring the program to great, or even good heights, and that every year after that was merely prolonging the inevitable. And personally, I hope they beat SMU on Saturday and get in a spot to at least make the start of SEC play interesting. But even if LSU struggles vs. SMU and it looks like this season is going to, more or less, go down the same path as the last three, I don't think firing the guy midseason does anything positive other than briefly satisfying the bloodlust of the fans.

By all accounts McMahon hasn't been a bad guy or an a-hole (like Kelly). Unless the players just hate him and would play much harder/better for the interim (which would be Patrick), you give McMahon and his team the respect of finishing out the season. CBB doesn't have the same calendar issues as CFB (or at least to a significant degree). So firing a guy midseason doesn't accomplish much.
