It’s not giving up if it’s unused. There obviously isn’t much in the transfer market
So, Orgeron would be passing up on walk on players, currently with the team, for a baseball guy to come take the scholly?
Maybe Storz is really good at football. I really don't know.

I believe he can because he has played at least a season of baseball before joining the football team
Never heard of this before. I don't believe that's correct.

After his sophomore year of HS he had offers to play DE at a couple big time schools (who knows if they were committable at the time) like Michigan and Alabama. His HS teammate was recent first round pick out of Georgia, Isaiah Wilson.

This seems like desperation. This kid had MLB potential. If he sill had that, I doubt he would be messing around with football. I take this as he still has never fully recovered and his professional baseball career is in serious doubt.
I would have to think a professional career in football will be a very long shot as well. I could be wrong but I don't see this as good news.

It’s not correct. You can’t be on scholarship for another sport and walk-on for football. No exceptions. It’s the Alabama coach Bryant rule.

I know for sure the rule is you have to play a full season of the sport you are on scholarship for first before you can play another sport.
ETA: After a little research if you are on the football team you are only allowed to receive a scholarship from football. So Storz is either done with baseball, will also be a walk on for the baseball team, or is expecting to receive a scholarship from football and he will still be able to play baseball next year.

They need bodies at TE.

He pitches at 89 & tops at 92.

Good idea. They guy who can’t stay healthy playing baseball should play football.
Terrible comparison
Here is his HUDL highlights which are very impressive!
Storz Sr highlights TE/DE

Are you trying to say Foster was on baseball scholarship, and a football walk on?
Was he not for the half the season before he left to get healthy for baseball?

Foster was a walk on in baseball too I think

There are 8 listed as such on the roster currently, granted not all of them are scholarship players.
How many more do they "need"?
Not at all complaining about Storz potentially playing football with this.
Perhaps there will be more of a blocking TE this season with all that was lost on the O-line. Or maybe they think they will be using the TE more and more going forward. Though, with the WR returning talent and depth, that seems doubtful.

They return like 4 catches & two starts between all the players
Two freshmen
Two guys that moved positions for depth
Pettigrew who has been hurt a lot

I'm not saying he didn't play both (he did). I'm saying he was not on a baseball scholarship while he was with the football team. Just like Storz won't be.

Now, after reading the article posted on here (and i saw another poster mention it), Storz isn't on the football team. He's going to a work out. The title is misleading.

Big break for Mainieri if he doesnt take any scholly money and continues to be on the baseball team

If Storz wants to walk on it isn’t costing the football team anything to kick the tires on what he can do. More options is never a bad thing.

They are wording it on Twitter that it’s for voluntary workouts not necessarily that he is full time on the team yet
Sounds like he’s just using the football team to get in better shape to me but who knows
