He was a head case. Then just to prove it he went to Florida. Head case central.

I see the "toxicity" and locker room "cancer" allegations now that Gilbert has committed elsewhere.
I didn't see any facts (or even rumors, with specifics) that would have supported such a claim while he was here. Not saying that these claims are not true, just that I haven't seen specifics from anybody and the claim at this late date looks like sour grapes.
Anybody have any specifics?

He announced that he was quitting the team in the middle of a game week?
Posted on 2/1/21 at 10:02 am to studentsect
Is that it?
Sounds like you guy shave nothing to go on except "he quit, ergo, he is a locker room cancer", His toxicity seems to have affected only one player: himself.
If the kid had issues of untreated emotional problems or personality disorders, as some have reported, I hope he gets help and gets past it. If that is the issue, the toxicity seems to be on some completely adult posters on this site.

quote:I partially agree. PLayers have to do what's right for them, and if that means transferring out, then that's fine with me. I mean, Joe Burrow was a transfer, and nobody calls him a quitter or not having the chest to compete at OSU.
I can’t imagine how miserable one has to be to get actually mad about a kid changing schools
However, my beef is when players quit mid-season. To me, you committed here, you're on scholarship, so honor that commitment and play. After the season's over, if you want to transfer, then do it.
But don't quit mid-season.

I wish some enterprising reporter would dive in and find the answer to the only question that matters here: Why did he leave? I still have no clue. Weed? (probably not). Mental health issues? Didn't like his teammates? Didn't like BR? Didn't like how he was utilized in offense? Can't be homesickness as Gainesville pretty far from Marietta. Maybe interview some of the players and see if they know? Seems crazy that this is still some big mystery...but it is.

Seems like it’s a combo of everything you mentioned. I’m sure covid restrictions made his college experience less than desirable, particularly since we weren’t playing well. He’s a very talented kid, but he can’t be counted on based on his mental fragility. Our guys will be ready to make his life miserable based on some of the comments I’ve seen on Twitter. This rivalry just keep getting more bitter.

Yes. He didn’t want to leave here. He wasn’t “homesick” heard stuff from really good sources the dude lost his shite on fake weed. He was in a facility for a bit because of it. LSU just did the best thing for him and hid it.

That's what not going to classes and drugs will do for you.

I'm going to make so many Gilbert memes for the UF game. You might even say I'm committed to it.

He will be a "TARGETED" player on the field for the next two or three years vs. LSU. He complained about his body aches, etc. We all knew that was BS.
Coach O will have our guys fired up to lay the WOOD on his arse constantly throughout the game. You know that old saying: Payback is a Bitch.
Geaux Tigers!

Quitter player going to play for a bitch coach. Fitting.

Cant be mad at these kids when schools can pull scholarships and process them. It's a 2 way street

We got Jack Bech coming up
He played WR in HS and he's listed at 6-2 215. I'm happy we got him but he doesn't sound like a prototype TE.

Too bad he can’t play next year

Yes, it's a good thing the Tigers recruited and signed Kole Taylor. His shoe already contributed in a surprising way to the win over Florida.
As you indicated, LSU should get steady tight end play this coming season from Taylor, aided by Bech, Storz and the other freshman recruit, Jalen Snead.
