Kind of surprised we didn’t see Curne at RT with the way Davis was playing. Maybe they didn’t want to throw a true FR into that situation on the road because I don’t remember him getting any snaps. Weren’t him and Davis were in a tight competition at this fall?
I bet he plays a good bit this coming week. Hopefully they can settle that spot for good before the UF game.

Another interesting tidbit is how high Mubenga’s pass blocking grade was. That was a big weakness for him last season.

I would like to see how the big freshman can do.

I liked what I saw from Echols when he was in last night. He’s a big MF

My concern is LG. Mubenga is weak. Chester is flat out awful. Was hoping to see Curne there for some snaps last night!
we watched a different game if you thought Mubenga was a problem

He had some problems in the run game in the first half. Seemed like Echols went in the first time after he got beat on a block. I remember seeing him on the field next to Chester when he checked in for Adams.

The good news is there is plenty of room for improvement, and we won't see a defensive front like that for a while.

How was Echols? I saw him get in there a few times

There are a lot of impact transfers on this team but none might be more important than Braelin Moore

Davis is a Redshired Freshmsn. First game staring and an away setting vs a premier pass rusher. I thought he did okay, considering. He’ll definitely get better. But I’m not opposed to rotating him and Curne if Curbe can handle it. When you’re playing these elite pass rushers, it’s not a terrible idea to give a guy a breather for a couple plays.

Was not impressed watching Davis let Durham get destroyed and not even attempt to help him up after the play. Hopefully he was just in his head in his first start.

Before throwing Davis off the cliff, I’d like to know who he was facing all night for his first career OL1 start.
We can throw out numbers and complaints and whining like there still going on, but I see almost no one giving Clemson the credit on defense. I believe 5-6 all conference players on defense.
The line had to go up against a hefty ask last night. If these scores were La Tech, I’d say there’s a reason to look deep into them, but not last night. Last night was a war.

These grades won’t look near as bad at the end of the season with Clemson‘s D line is winning the vast majority of their matchups.
That said. I fully expect Carius Curne to take Davis‘s starting job.

There’s literally no data to back this up nor a reason to believe this.
If Curne was ready to go, it would have been him out there last night and not DJ Chester coming as the 6th man.
Don’t let a 5th star con you into believing some BS and then being disappointed when it doesn’t happen.

If Davis had gone down, I would bet $100 cash that Curne comes in over Chester. He’s a true freshman and LT is not exactly the same as RT on the other side. Pulls and protections are different and the matchups are different. They didn’t even trust Davis to move over to LT and bring in Curne at RT. That would happen with some more experienced OLs if their LT went down.
Players don’t usually cross train on the OL until they are 2 or 3 years in. Just because he didn’t come in at a different spot yesterday doesn’t mean Curne isn’t still challenging Davis at RT. Hell, we should WANT that. Let these guys battle and push each other. We haven’t had good competition for spots on the OL for several years.

I am a Davis guy and same reason I have been a Heard guy, Chalky. It's not his fault they didnt add a OT in the portal.
Got ya.
I thought he looked pretty good. He seems to be a pretty smart player also which you need as a linemen.
I think he has a chance to be pretty special at rt. He stoned will heldt a bunch.

A massive improvement at center. Moore and Thompson celebrating with nuss after the game is a big sign that the line has come together quickly.

Agreed. Davis will be solid. Showed some good things.

Moore was SEC OL of the week. BTR sports talk shows reported Moore (85), Thompson (84), and Mubenga (81) on PFF passing block grades which are outstanding.
