Yeah, Ole Miss has opened up negotiating with their current offensive staff to try to retain them so it appears we are going to enter another battle here.
No, if anything OM wants the current (Kiffin's) guys gone and their own interim coaches to handle it from here on out.

All this talk about contracts. Lane had a contract with Ole Miss. so what?

Ha! How much is an unexecuted sports contract worth? You have to be kidding.

From what was reported, we had to pay Ole Miss a small buyout that remained on it. That dissolved it, but it didn’t just magically go away. No contract does.
Golding’s MOU with Ole Miss
Now take a look at the MOU in the link above. It clearly states that it’s binding. This is what gets signed when parties have come to terms and are just waiting for the final contract and approval. It is binding for good reason for BOTH PARTIES. It’s so neither can change the terms and neither party can back away without a penalty. It’s pretty much a certainty that all of Ole Miss’ new coaches have signed these same documents. And it was widely reported that our new offensive staff also signed binding MOUs in advance of their new contracts.
These are situational. Everyone on this site is more used to MOUs being part of a coaching search to lock in terms while that coach may still be considering other offers. In that case, it’s definitely not in the coach’s interest to sign anything binding. The MOU just locks in their offer until they accept. But just because a MOU can be used one way doesn’t mean they can’t also be worded to be binding in advance of a contract.
So these aren’t just scribbles in the sand like some of you seem to think. If coaches try to back out, the buyouts on these signed documents WILL be enforced. It’s crazy to me that some of you think these multi-million dollar sports enterprises wouldn’t have lawyers adequately protecting them in these situations.

Ugh, contracts can be "bought" by Ole Miss. I told y'all this was a bad decision from day 1.
Ole Miss has already hired new coaches. What are we even talking about here?
They gonna buyout old coaches and already fire the new coaches they hired? Get real.
They gonna kick their new OC and Frank to the curb?
Come on.

I could be wrong, but according to my private school education, this is saying OM is trying to find replacements for the current LSU staff members coaching in the playoffs bc Lane has shite they need to be doing.
This isn’t OM stole the coaches back and LK is looking for replacements. OM would have to buyout the coaches under contract with LSU, buyout the ones they just got to leave their previous teams to sign with them and then pay the coaches coming back.
I also want to say I read somewhere that they have a noncompete clause, but I’m not a lawyer, so that may not mean shite.
