The BOS has to approve any contract. Doesn’t matter if SW or committee does the negotiating. Well the perception of having an AD not being allowed to hire a coach does matter. The coaches and especially their agents usually bond during that process and the idea of a lame duck AD is almost worse than no AD. They like to know who the boss is and that they’ll be around a while.

They are approving the person more than the contract.
I hope Woodward stays and signs a new coach and puts in the contract that the LA state salary will be $1 annually, and the coach comes out and says that's his way of donating back to the taxpayers.
