He is hitting .292 with 1 extra base hit. That is pretty terrible. Pearson may be hitting 230ish before his ops, slg, and ob % is significantly better. Pearson has 10 XB hits to Milazzo’s 1
To quote the movie Moneryball, “Do we care how he gets on base? No we do not.” Running the pitch count up from walks and hitting singles is what we need from him. Plus his defense.
You hit .292 in professional baseball, you’re pretty good.
None of you guys would have loved to watch Tony Gwynn.

I never thought Tony Gwynn would ever be in the same conversation as Alex Milazzo but here we are.

if he is truly healthy, it is crazy he is not on the roster.
Eh, not really. He has been recovering from a back injury and hasn’t had an AB in months. With only 27 roster spots and 4 other guys on the roster that can catch, I’d much rather have a pitcher in that spot than Neal.

I get he hasn't played catcher in a game this year, but Jones was the #4 catcher in the nation coming out of high school.
Didn’t he catch for one or two innings way earlier in the year, or am I imagining that?
Either way, Milazzo and Travinski are your catchers right now.

Milazzo is the best catcher… he had 2 base hits yesterday. He frames and blocks balls better than any catcher we have!!!!

Milazzo should be catching because he blocks and frames balls better than any catcher we have.

I tend to agree especially knowing that Trav is somewhat a liability behind the plate and Milazzo is a liability at the plate. Neal started the season for a reason.
Milazzo was the only person with 2 hits yesterday. His 2 hits yesterday are more than Travinski has had through Regionals, Supers, and CWS so far which is 1.

through Regionals
Travinski lit it up in the Regional (6-14, .429 ba); he’s gone cold since, though.

That is what I was referring to, I just couldn't remember if he said he was full strength or close to it.
Looking back at Twitter, he’s been taking BP & catching bullpens since at least 5/22
Wouldn’t really need him to start games but with Travinski hurt you have zero flexibility at the end of games with Milazzo

This. Isn’t kind of shocking he isn’t on the roster if he is good to go.

with Thompson 1-18 maybe it's time to throw Guidry out there,
Thompson isn't getting benched. But it sure would be nice if he wasn't in the 6 spot.
