First half we allowed 17 points despite getting a TO and benefitting from numerous OM penalties. After a good first quarter, we couldn’t get off the field. That’s partially why we got tired.

Um. 24 points to Ole Miss? being back on the field every 2 minutes?
Didn’t Arkansas put 500 yards on Ole Miss?
Nobody needs to make an excuse for the D. We need offense. Just like… a half arse offense. We need a running game.

They did enough to help an offense with a pulse win the game on the road.
Held them to consecutive three and outs to start the game. Forced 2 turnovers. Held them under 30. Can’t really ask for more. The fact they were on pace for 100 plays at halftime was pathetic and falls back on the offense’s inability to sustain drives.

How many snaps compared to the offense

Outside the first two drives, our defense couldnt stop them.
There are no excuses for offense or defense in this game.

Not reading all that shite Scooby. Rewatch the game and if you believe the defense didn’t keep us from being blown out…you’re beyond confused.

I get it but after witnessing what happened yesterday the Rebs could have easily scored 40. No one is giving the defense a free pass as they made a ton of mistakes. Lets say the defense played flawless and gave up 18pts instead of 24. How many times can the D bail out the offense? Okay they did for 4 games, asking 5 in a row is overkill. Offense lost this game. Yeah the D needs to clean up some things and they will. The offense wont clean shite up. There ain't no changing chicken shite into chicken salad.

Too many people are giving the defense a pass, even praising them for holding Ole Miss to 24 pts. bullshite, this was a team loss on both sides.
The Vegas over for OM points was 30. The defense overperformed by 20%. That is more realistic than your outdated P&G glasses expectations. OM with Kiffin is the highest output offense in the NCAA in his tenure there. My own expectation was we would lose if we scored <30.

480 yards......
480 yards total offense and only 24pts(3 touchdowns in a college game)....WIN
Most teams with 480 drop 50

This loss is on the offense.
I personally can’t stand Lane Kiffin but he’s an excellent offensive coach and play caller. We knew they would move the ball and score. We can’t expect to win many(any) games scoring 19 points. If the offense keeps the ball away from the Ole Piss offense, it gives the defense a chance to rest.

Or just not score as much…

When you face an elite play caller like Lane Kiffin you are going to points. They got stops on 7 of 11 drives. That should equal a win. This loss was not on the defense.

That's not even addressing the 2nd half at all.
You talking about the 2nd half in which they gave up 7 points?
Yeah, that half...
because the recurring theme was that the defense was gassed.
As you point out, they did better the second half.
I'm not saying the defense was bad overall, but we had stuff on defense that definitely contributed to the loss.
That 18 play drive in the 1st half, Baker was worked over. Just could not get off the field.
3rd down conversions were bad overall.
Blown assignment and coverages on 2 of the biggest plays of the game:
goal line at the end of the first half, leading to a TD instead of holding to a FG. That's 4 points, meaning we could have tied the game on our last drive.
4th and 3 with a minute and a half, they go for it- another blown coverage and they run the clock out.
If we hold them there, at least the offense has a minute and a half at the 36, which is not impossible.
And as stated, STUPID penalty to let them out of a big hole, and which led to the go-ahead score from them.
Those 3 plays aren't good enough to win on the road against a ranked team. They have nothing to do with being gassed or tired, they were just undisciplined mistakes.

I’m not saying the defense was perfect. I don’t expect them to be perfect on the road against a Kiffin offense. I believe they were good enough to win though. The offense failed them.

One drive you're counting as a stop, it took an amazing individual play by the safety to force a fumble on a 32 yd pass inside the 10. Great play by the safety, but the defense overall had failed. They had went 70 yds on 5 plays and was about to score. You will lose every time if you are counting on that to happen, instead of forcing punts.
The last drive, they didn't get a stop either. The Ole Miss receiver could have jogged into the endzone, he just chose to stop and sit down, so the clock would run out. That's not a stop.
Yes, the offense was worse. No disputing that at all. The game plan was horrible, and the adjustments were also. We didn't even try to run against a 3 man front, only down a score. Even down 2 scores with plenty of time, we didn't try to run. Sure, we "ran", out of the shotgun with 3 WR and sometimes a WR at running back. That played into what they were doing, and we flat refused to change personnel groups and formations to try a more power-oriented approach... against a bad rushing defense.
On top of that, Nussmeier was awful. He was missing guys all game. We didn't deserve the first TD, that was a lucky deflection. He's either hurt BAD, or was completely rattled and confused... either way you have to pull him. If he's just rattled, go into a power formation and honestly try to run, and try to change Ole Miss' defense. If he's hurt, sit his arse because he can't play.
The coaches were terrible too.
Pitiful offensive game plan, no adjustments, poor awareness (Kelly wanted the punt return + 5 yds for the penalty, didn't give a frick that they rekicked instead).
Defense on the final 4th down, they were coming out of a timeout called by Ole Miss, and STILL failed to account for every receiver.... after failing to do so earlier on an Ole Miss TD.
And us needing to burn timeouts on FG tries, and getting penalties after calling TO to get the correct play on a 4th and short.
Basically, LSU was unprepared and undisciplined across the board. The defense may have been the least messed up of the team, but it screwed things up too.
