why? We already had evidence that the 3rd and 4th ranked teams weren't worthy of playoff appearances in most years. Who could've guessed that adding 8 more would result in this? That's not the committee's fault.

That would suck but in the NFL wild card teams that have a better record get in over teams that have a worse record that play a tougher schedule.

It sucks, but that’s just the way it is.

Say something above a simp..
You either don’t know football, or are just blind. Penn state would be just above 500, and ND with that defense(healthy of course), would not be as easy of a game as your mind leads you.

If the committee truly did their job & sought out the hottest teams that nobody wanted to face for the playoffs, then South Carolina IS that team.

How about before the playoffs the four lowest ranked teams in the CFP have to play the four highest ranked SEC teams in a wildcard playoff

When has the SEC been a qualifier for the playoff???

Why the four highest ranked SEC teams??? Why not other conferences.

As much as we like to beat our chests the playoffs aren't the SEC invitational, that's jot how it works and not how it should work.

Conference champions have rank and should.

Everyone wanted more teams even after watching the 3 and 4 seed get blown out most times. Here is the proof that 4 was enough.

But college football does not have equal conferences, so win/loss can’t be the only factor like the NFL. Sure you get some bad NFL divisions, but they still play most of their games against the other divisions. SMU played scrubs all year. You can go to straight W/L if we only have a few super conferences where everyone’s schedule is somewhat legit.

The entire purpose of expanding the playoffs was to get some of these other non-powerhouse programs a chance.

That’s true only for the auto-bids. There’s nothing inherent in the at-large selection process that is supposed to favor lesser conferences or teams.

I feel sorry for SMU. They obviously don't belong and didn't beat a team worth a shite all year.

What will you think when they let in a one loss Boise or IU team over a 3 loss LSU?

That’s what’s so great about this year. After all the pretenders get annihilated, the committee won’t give them the benefit of the doubt anymore.

Bama gets screwed this year and we can potentially benefit next year

They did this because ND & Penn St were losing the ability to recruit talented players and they needed to try to level the tables back from the SEC

This is a top seed beating a lower seed, been happening since the dawn of playoffs in basically every sport

But it’s not. It’s #6 vs #11 and it’s a complete annihilation. I mean I get what they did but it’s a bad product.

Well Dumbass, then just admit that you don’t want the best teams in the playoffs. The purpose was to be like the basketball tournament in that if. A conference clearly has the best 8 teams, they get in and shitty teams from shitty conferences get left in the NIT because they didn’t play anybody!

I came here to say what a joke this process is but see many here like the idea of watching this embarrassing crap. I agree that most sec schools would beat smu and most of them badly.

Indiana and SMU have combined for 0 wins over currently ranked teams. Vandy and OU have at least 1 that I’m aware of. What would these 6-6 teams records be if they had the schedules of SMU and Indiana? SOS has to matter going forward.

Oh well it’s still fun to know the Gumps are sitting at home losing their mind that they aren’t in this game while Penn State is going in dry on SMU.

Who deserved a chance? A 3 loss SEC team? Let me guess you think 11-1 Indiana shouldn’t be in either.

Do yall realize there have been 30 CFP games and 16 were won by 3+ scores?

This isn’t new.

LK is going to have fun tweeting about these games & SOS, and because the same thing could happen to us as a 9-3 team in the out years....he isn't wrong.

Treat college football like the NFL:

SEC is the NFC
Big10 is the AFC

Each conference has a playoff with the winners meeting in the college “Super Bowl”. Tell the other conferences to kick rocks.

So this expansion ISN'T about the best teams. Right?
