Why is this worth your time, or effort to even think about?
Well it is obviously worth their time cause they constantly make the effort to unlawfully name themselves the University of Louisiana when their not!

Why is ULL able to call themselves UL when it was agreed upon that both them and ULM would use the last letter. USL was much more fitting for those fools. They will NEVER, AND I REPEAT , NEVER be up to LSU in anything. Hell they can’t keep up with Mcneese in most things.

Because they want Louisiana across their uniforms and have sports announcers saying Louisiana over the media.
It's a way to puff their chest to big brother LSU and a middle finger to ULM.
To me , a scholarship sent me to NLU, I graduated from NLU , my mascot were the Indians. I could care less about what they are call now and whatever a warhawk is.
but I have always been an LSU fan

Everyone knows this. Getting upset about them gives them credence.

What is this obsession with UL? Seems like the only school fans bothered by UL is LSU. Get over it, man,

University of Lafayette would be way cooler and an appropriate way to use "UL"
There's already a university named Lafayette. In Pennsylvania.
There's also an Indiana University in Pennsylvania. Those Pennsylvanians are cray cray.

Why are you so insecure?

Ever since they switched from USL (which was the perfect name, btw), I’ve just referred to them as ‘Lafayette’ or ‘That school in Lafayette’.
If they are looking to do another name change, University of Lafayette would be perfect and they can legitimately start calling themselves UL.

I think that the state could use two state schools that excel in athletics and academics. If the UL name helps them do that, then great. The insecurity of some LSU people is confounding. I don’t get it.

What is the saying on the SRant? "Rent free..."
It is amazing how any idiots, most of whom are grads from Southeastern, or Nicholls, or any school other than LSU (I like to call them Walmart fans because they didn't go to the school, just to Walmart for a shirt), know absolutely nothing about UL, its history, or its fans.
First, LSU has had four different names in its history (LSS, UofL, LSUA&M, and just LSU, which isn't even the current name), same as UL (SLII, SLI, USL, UL).
Second, UL voted to be UL in 1984, and it was approved by the BoR. LSU exerted its influence in the legislature and courts (judge was an LSU grad) to overturn the action, even though other schools had used the same procedures to change names. Wharton even said publicly that he was worried the name change would allow USL to expand.
Third, in 1995, LSU flexed its influence again to force Act 45, which required that a name change in the University of Louisiana system would require two schools to agree to it at the same time. UL had to convince ULM to come along for the ride. The "LSU Rule" even banned the designation of any ULS school as a "main" or "flagship" campus.
Fourth, state law forces UL to use "at Lafayette" on all official documents and signage, but that does not include athletics.
Fifth, U of L is Louisville. They have never been UL. Lafayette is in Pennsylvania.
And last, this myth of the UL / Bama fan is just that, a myth. There are a few butt-hurt diehards with dreams of ending LSU's hegemony, just like in any fan base, but the majority of UL fans grew up as LSU fans. You see LSU shirts all over UL's campus.
