They should use the old BCS system to choose the 12 teams in the playoffs
1. Indiana
2. Ohio State
3. Georgia
4. Texas Tech
5. Oregon vs. 12. BYU
6. Ole Miss vs. 11. Miami
7. Texas A&M vs. 10. Alabama
8. Oklahoma vs. 9. Notre Dame
It would have been more interesting in the first round.

Bama can't run the ball, that will be the downfall. They also have a average DL. Bama is a good team with some serious gaps which a good coach will take advantage of. Got to think Indiana wins this one in a fairly low scoring game.

The BCS computers should be used for the playoff selection.

https://saturdayblitz.com/bcs-computer-rankings-reveal-a-very-different-cfp-top-15-notre-dame-safe-oklahoma-out
quote:
1. Ohio State — 1.167
2. Indiana — 2
3. Oregon — 4.67
4. Georgia — 5.33
5. Ole Miss — 6.33
6. Texas A&M — 6.67
7. Texas Tech — 8.33
8. Alabama — 8.5
9. BYU — 8.67
10. Notre Dame — 9
11. Oklahoma — 9.167
12. Vanderbilt — 13
So if they kept the set-asides, the difference in who is in would be Notre Dame and BYU instead of Oklahoma and Miami (who just soundly beat the #2 team and beat ND). If they don't keep the set-asides, then the only difference in who is in between the CFP rankings and BCS computers is Vandy instead of Miami.

Still have to use the AQ rules, amd it's also still not perfected upsets do happen.

I’m over-educated having degrees from both Purdue and LSU. And as Indiana is Purdue’s main rival all I have to say is POTFH. Roll Tide

Indiana's fame rests mostly on a three-point win over Ohio in the B1G championship game. They also beat Oregon, so two good wins on a cupcake-laden slate. Will they up to the challenge offered by Alabama? Maybe, but I think maybe not.
Alabama is a different beast-- they've been arrested, fire-tested-- an IRON... drawn to a specified length, and strength, thanks to the SEC gauntlet of teams, of which they've played 10 such games this season, mostly against the elite fleet within the SEC.

True enough, but the selection, even with the computers, is subjective. With the computers, it is based on whatever selection parameters are put into the computers, and those will have some inherent bias; it is unavoidable.

They can be altered, but Miami showed you why. There's nothing to compare one conference to another during the season. There has to be a representative from every P4 conference. I think ND should have the same tie-in as G6. 1 AQ from that group. That's it.

Nah, I think Indiana takes care of business.

quote:That did not happen this year because of an AQ team. The current AQ system allows for the 5 highest ranked conference champions, no set asides for the P4 champs. That's how we got JMU and Tulane in the playoffs. The ACC champ, unranked Duke, was not in the playoffs.

I think ND should have no AQ tie-in. I think there should be no AQs. If the P4s are the cream of the crop, they will get teams in. If they are not, they won't.

But I think Bama has a lot more talent overall and if they show up I think they take Miami.
