A number of coaches with better records than his have already been canned. Do we need to wait for the inevitable first round loss to UK?

Why do you care if it’s today or Thursday?

Assuming we turn down the NIT bid if the NCAA takes 14 SEC schools.

Auburn is almost assuredly going to turn down a NIT bid if they don't back into the NCAA.T If Oklahoma intends to fire Moser should they not reach the NCAAT then they will turn down the NIT auto-bid too. That means likely by nothing more than default LSU will get a NIT invitation. However, that should have NO bearing on the decision...a decision that should have already been made months ago.

If LSU wants to give McMahon the dignity of finishing up the season in the SEC Tournament that is perfectly ok. But if there is no plan in place to move as soon as LSU is eliminated from the tournament then that is a complete failure on the part of the AD.

Because season's not over. Firing will come after SEC tourney.

I am certain the decision has been made, I am just not certain what that decision is. It should be to move on, though.

They may want to throw the players a bone if the NIT does indeed come calling. One thing I am not certain of is whether the auto bid has to extend beyond the top two available if turned down. Of course, they may want LSU anyway but I am not hoping for that.

They were waiting for one more a-hole to start a thread so the rest of his fellow assholes can start slinging more shite at McMahon. Congratulations mission accomplished, you have just started the 17,764th throw shite at Mcmahon thread.

He’s had 2 top 20 classes, they combined for a 5-31 SEC record. It isn’t the players, not even close

He won't be fired until after the NC State season is finished and Will Wade gives them a yay or nay

I honestly have no idea why people are freaking out about this. It doesn’t serve us to fire him yet, so they haven’t. All it would do would be to satisfy the fan base. If they keep holding they are not losing any chances at other options and are also getting the fanbase concerned making it more likely that boosters will start offering up money earmarked for buyouts, new coach, and NIL seed money

Doesn't seem like it. It's either Wade or McMahon, unless they somehow attract another proven commodity away from somewhere. Which is hard to see.

Don’t need a proven commodity, just need a good coach. If it isn’t WW you can find a half a dozen better, cheap hires than McMahon. People don’t realize but if you bring this guy back LSU basketball is finished

McMahon is getting hot at the right time.

At least three moral victories lately. Don't let him get hotter.

Unless things have changed, the exempt bids just go down the list until someone accepts. That's what happened in 2024. Ole Miss was first in line for an "auto bid". They turned it down, which moved Georgia and LSU up the list. Last year there were no SEC teams in the NIT. That's because 14 made the NCAA Tournament and the two that didn't, LSU and South Carolina, declined NIT bids. It's not really a "bone" to the players. It's more of an annoyance they don't want to have to deal with. They just want to end the season and move on with their careers. That's why there were only 4 power conf. teams in last year's 32 team NIT field.

From LSU's perspective, I suspect the expense and hassle of hosting a home game on such short notice (teams find out they made the NIT on Sunday and play their first game on the following Tuesday or Wednesday) isn't worth it considering two years ago there were less than 2,000 in actual attendance when LSU hosted. And that was at a time the apathy for the program had yet to reach critical mass. Point being, the NIT should have ZERO relevance in LSU's plans for the future.

Well.. since YOU are waiting on Verge, he will get right to it, even if the coach they would like to hire is taking his current team to the NCAA tournament. Get your emotions together pal.

That is what I did not know.

I was there, it certain felt like more than 2000 but not anything like it used to be.

I agree with that.

Just wait. I thought he should have been fired weeks ago but at this point just let it play out. If it’s this time Thursday and he’s still not fired (assuming we lose Wednesday) then you can start to panic
