Are we still paying him or did he get lump sum?
Posted on 11/20/25 at 7:16 pm to Tigernomics
This is coming from lsu not lane.
This means nothing as far as kiffin's decision.
And I think it's stupid that they would hire him back after he quit and bragged about the buyout.

Can Kiffin sleep with one eye open? Les still has knife marks in his back
O realistically knows he's never getting a marquee HC job again

We love O.
Just not as the head of the program.

As a Defensive Line coach / recruiter??
Hell yeah we would.

Seriously? You can't make that up. It's almost too perfect.

O might have sabotaged Miles, maybe not. But 95% of you on here were happy to see Les gone. Then 2019 happened which would not have happened with Les.

100% a fact

Yes, in fact, assuming he wants too and still has passion for the game, I would bring him in in some capacity. The same applies to Frank Wlison assuming the new coach doesn't retain him.
In a perfect, happy hour cocktail fueled world in my head, Ed and Frank Wilson would share a roll as football ambassadors, recruiting closers, shirtless off-season workout directors, and sergeant-at-arms of locker room morale.
It would be like a 70's detective drama. They would drive matching El Caminos everywhere, one purple one gold, each with big wide racing tires, CB radios, and the magnetic police flasher on the roof.
Tune in this Thursday 7pm Eastern/8 PM Central for the hit series....Be-be and Franklin as they fight the crime of softness in the trenches and a weak running game, discuss their strategy, conspire and make grandiose plans that just might be crazy enough to work, and pound the long corded desk phones relentlessly in a montage of intense dialing and and anguish with a soul music track with lots of horns playing in the background....grabbing leather coats, racing out of the operations building to hit the mean streets of BR, paying off informants to bring in the bad guys that choose violence on the football field. And wrap it up in time to see their boss, the well dressed Lieutenant, thru his glass office wall as he makes eye contact with them and nod in grim admiration as they celebrate another closed case with high fives with their cohorts in the squad room.

Agree, and watching Lane all these years, he is one guy similar to Saban who is going to say once I am hired, I will decide who is on my staff, who is not, who is n the support staff and who is not.
I don't think he is going to accept being told he has to keep X, Y and Z. He might interview them and decide himself, but if he does take the LSU job, he is going to hire who he thinks can help him win a NC at LSU.
And other thing, I don't think he has ever done a coaching show anywhere he has been. He doesn't do one at Ole Miss for sure. He may also say Coaching shows are 1960, 1970, 1980, etc. To hell with those.

Out of all the coaches I feel bad for Kyle Williams the most. Dude came and was doing well. Just a rough time for him. True Tiger.

Orgeron recruiting with NIL money will be ridiculous. Yes you have to. Don’t think twice
Posted on 11/20/25 at 8:26 pm to Tigernomics
LSU would do anything Lane Kiffin says. Period. That will be established before he comes here.

The irrational hatred of O is insane. The dude got fricked by Covid when teams weren’t even allowed to practice leading into the ‘20 season. It’s not a coincidence that the teams that had success that year were those with a lot of continuity from the previous season. Any team that had a lot of turnover, of which LSU had by far the most in the country, was at an insane disadvantage. Not to mention Ryan Clark destroying the locker room and Woodward forcing the Pelini hire on him. Now should he have been let go? Absolutely. Does he deserve the perpetual hatred on here? Absolutely not. He gave us the best season in CFB history. That will always mean far more than a couple .500 seasons of which LSU has had plenty of in it’s existence.

Coqch O would be hqck to h3lp Kyle, not replac3 h8m. Think Pete Jenk8ns.

Sounds good. Wouldn’t work. It would absolutely depend on who the DC winds up being. He may run an Aranda type 3-4 that O loathed and wouldn’t be the best coach for. He’s probably competent enough to adjust, but I think he’d be more motivator that great technical coach. Might be more important, though. Who knows.
But if I were the HC, whoever it is, I would never even consider for a second hiring a guy who was a HC at that same school. Much less one that won an NC. Even less that that NC team was the best in the history of college football.
And it may sound good to Ed now, but he’d literally be the subordinate to not just the HC, but the DC. At some point, any man’s pride would surface. “I won the NC here with the best team in history, and I’ve got to take orders these 2 guys who haven’t won anything? And the DC will probably be a decade younger, at least.
And how much does coaches’ recruiting ability really matter in 2025? I’m genuinely curious. If anybody’s would be, it would be Ed’s.
I think it could work early, and maybe even really well. Especially if we’re winning. I just think it has a VERY high probability of going south and causing unnecessary chaos. “Who the frick are you? What have you ever done? I coached the best NC winning team in the history of this sport right here on this field.”
I don’t think any new HC would want to tempt that fate.
And this has nothing to do with Ed personally. I think everybody in that position would be prone to that, good as their intentions may be.
But Lane’s wild enough to do it. Hopefully, we’ll see. (If he’ll do it, not that he’ll do it).

Absolutely. This process is not enough of a s&$tshow already.

If they ever hired that fricking piece of shite back to LSU, I would hope LSU never wins another football game in the history of the world!

I would love Coach O back as DL coach or recruiting coordinator. I miss Coach O and his “Go tigahs”. Always brought a smile to my face
