Jesus after reading this thread I feel like I should keep more in my checking.
I let it get down to $150 before moving funds from savings. Theres usually about $350 free money at any given time. It’ll usually sits at $800-$1200, until my paycheck clears then i pay the Cc bill. Everything goes on a CC that gets paid off every time my paycheck clears.

Less than $1,000 after the first of the month bills go through - Land mortgage, home mortgage.
After that, the regular bills that are automatically drafted don’t eclipse what I have leftover
I’m constantly transferring money from my checking to savings (4.3% interest rate).

2 months of expenses unless I am about to make a big purchase.

I keep between $41,000-$42,000 in checking. Origin Bank pays 6% on checking, assuming you keep a minimum of $4,000 in the account, have at least 16 cleared debit transactions each month, along with a minimum of 1 direct deposit a month.
They do cap this at $40,000.

Probably 60k between 2 accounts but my wife and I both grew up extremely poor so we don't really spend $.

Checking account about $1000, savings account linked to my checking $500. Anything over those numbers after my bills are paid gets either invested into crypto, stocks, or high yield savings.

I keep roughly $200 in my checking at all times if not less. Every payday Friday I sit down wiht pen and paper and write the balance as my starting point. I subtract all known recurring bills that will occur over the next 2 weeks to give me a remainder. I then subtract about $200 since that's what I want to be leftover at the end, and the number remaining is free to do whatever with. Typically I'll move that to a high yield savings, buy crypto, put some towards one of our existing investment vehicles, etc.
The way I look at it, money sitting there in my checking account earning nothing is essentially pointless. I would much rather move money to somewhere productive. The only reason I keep $200 left in there is if there is some kind of emergency that I need to venmo someone something quickly or something else unforseen.

Just trying to trigger the BTC haters.
Why would you choose a MMF when you can do a MFF? Seems like more fun to me.

10k in a month in expenses (not including tax payments) isn’t unusual. The numbers we keep in money market accounts to pull from when needed are the ones that would probably get your attention. That keeps us from pulling from our real assets.

I guess about $1500, I prefer to pull it out and put it into my high yield savings account

Below $1000 I freak out. Above $3000 I move to my savings
