Go look at the earnings of the hospital system administrators and those of the insurance companies. Doctors salaries have been relatively flat for a while. It ain’t really the doctors that are the problem.

Physician salaries are capped at an arbitrary “fair market value” that does not actually take into account supply/demand force and are subject to review from the HHS OIG. Hospital administrators salaries don’t have this cap.

People don't want to hear that. That's the genius of it. Doctors are vilified and people choose not to pay them in protest meanwhile it's the insurers and administrators that are the assholes. Want to protest? Quit paying for medical insurance.

And this is true, just not in the way the OP believes it is. Not saying there aren't providers abusing the system. That's every industry. Most doctors underbill if you were to analyze each and every claim except for the corporate ones that have coders that go back and upcharge.

This is the truth. Most providers are terrified of getting accused of fraud and therefore bias towards under-billing for services.

Which is also illegal as it can be seen as an enticement to utilize their services more.

My son blew his ACL playing football last season. Even with my insurance, secondary insurance and staying within the districts docs, hospital, etc. it’s been a billing nightmare. We’re still trying to sort it all out and will end up paying thousands out of pocket. Nobody at any level can consolidate the bills and tell us who is responsible for what. My wife has spent hours trying to sort it all out m

Our system is beyond broken.

So do you just change doctors every time you go to a doctor?

Cant imagine a place you've stiffed is going to continue to see you over and over

The big hospitals/clinics don’t keep track of your outstanding balance when you are scheduling appts. The providers and front desk have no clue what you owe and legally they have to service you even if you don’t have insurance. When you go to ER that are legally required to service you even if you don’t have insurance.

And to the provider smackoverhawg, stfu. Quit forcing patients to “talk” every three months for adhd prescriptions and bullshite physicals in a blatant money grab. And don’t get me started on the ordering labs every visit to check numbers scam.

Just received a bill yesterday from a foot doctor that we took my daughter to last September. They charged what insurance "didn't cover", but failed to include the payment we may the day of the appointment on the statement. Wonder how they coded that check?

Some of us were brought up to actually pay our bills you POS. If you don’t want to pay then don’t go to the doctor. You’re part of the problem and the rest of us pay for your bad debt.

Do you dine and dash or sneak out of the grocery with food in your jacket too? Are you on SNAP?

You mean doing adequate monitoring as required by law? Forced? No patient has a choice. I don't make shite off labs. In fact, it's more efficient for me not to and cost effective. Yearly physicals? Don't get them. It's a free visit by most insurers and keeps you established. I'm plenty busy. I don't have to milk visits or "scam" patients. Sorry you've had such bad experiences, but I don't know why you think someone should provide you with free services. You're awfully entitled.

Please. There’s no reason a patient needs to be adequately monitored every 3 months to get adhd meds, it’s a money grab. I assume you’re a primary care physician lol, anyone can look at an abnormal lab value or hear a patient complaint and put in a referral order. AI will surely replace primary care doctors here shortly and only specialty providers will exist.

Yea, it feels like they just wait and see how many people don't pay their bills and just tack the extra into respectable bill payers.

I didn't think we had any poors on the Money Board. Congratulations, you're on the same level as the trash who use the ER for colds

AI will never accept liability for medical decision making. Their programmers don’t want that liability.

AI will also make it a ton easier to track down freeloaders who don’t pay their bills.

The problem summed up: Over the past 25 years the number of administrators in the healthcare system has grown many multiples faster than the amount of actual providers

Every reputable insurance company does not charge a fee for the annual physical and labs. Hell, other than knee surgery, it's the only time I had been to the Dr. in 5+ years.

If you are getting labs at every visit, I would suspect it's because you have a litany of medical issues that require them to do labs; OR, it's because you keep going to new facilities after you've been rejected for non-payment, and they don't have your records.

Best thing ever was my wife working for medical billing for 6 months.

She's saved us so much money getting things re-filed.

One of the lm was a 16000 bill.

They are getting plenty from insurance… don’t think they care
