Just me and wife, we only spend about $450 a month in groceries, but we are terrible about eating out...about $900 a month in restaurants

USA Budget - $800

Well, you also have to consider that cheaper processed foods make up a large amount of most Americans diets. I eat a lot of high quality meats and other foods that tend to cost more.

One person...probably around $250-$300/month

It sounds like some of you just need to shop at less expensive grocery stores and perhaps cook more. Pre-made foods are almost always a rip-off.

Odds. I don’t personally know anyone who eats more meat than I do.

Groceries is an understatement if it doesn't include restaurants or a work cafeteria.

I struggle to see how some of these numbers are so low. My household spends $100-150/month on beverages alone. Sparkling water in particular at Costco every ~2 weeks.

About $600-700 for me and 1 kid, but I eat out pretty regularly and I only eat about 1600-1800 cals a day.

Kudos to you for cooking so often as a single person.

That's wild - we spend $16 a month on beverages. 1 gallon of milk a week for the kiddo. Maybe $20 if you factor in the bulk bag of coffee that lasts multiple months.

Probably $400/person. We eat out maybe 1 or 2 times a month.

Did you see my post? I’m eating more than you and my wife eats the same as you. We’re at $600/month from Sams.

Without restaurants in that $1400 I’m curious how you’re running that up. I’m guessing your diet is pretty red meat/steak heavy?

Where do you live, Sudan or Burma? $75 a week, including cleaning and non-food household things? What are your meals?

If you are eating a lot of lean meat and don't go out to eat... you are going to have a higher grocery spend.

Honestly, you may be in the category where it makes to buy half of a cow.

Just drink tap water?

Kcups, sparkling water, coconut water, cold brew, almond milk, occasionally energy drinks... Beer or alcohol every few months so that is additional as well (and expensive whenever we need it).

I disagree. I have a family of 5 (wife, two teenage stepsons, and a toddler). The two teenagers eat more than me and my toddler is expensive due to formula being so high. I know we also have diapers, cleaning supplies, among other misc. non-food expenses, but my "grocery" bill for the 5 of us is always North of $2,000 a month. This is not including fast food or restaurants.
