Or allow us to eliminate the income tax.

Or “refinance” our debt

Long term investors are getting way too bogged down with the tariff stuff.

Strip out the emotions, this is a short to intermediate term issue. Just nibble on dips and chill out.

Speaking in the Oval Office, President Trump suggested that his high tariffs against China were ultimately a temporary negotiating tactic to strike a trade deal, rather than a longer-term trade policy.

I’m old enough to remember being told multiple times that this wasn’t a negotiating ploy.

Anybody with half a brain already knew this was a negotiation tactic

There’s no point in raising it more. It’s effectively an embargo at 245%

Anything tariffs accomplish was the goal all along; anything they fail to accomplish was just a negotiating tactic. Art of the Deal!

LOL. He didn't even cave. He's negotiating against himself, hasn't even talked to China yet. The epitome of incompetent.

Re Powell: the powerful of Wall Street are back channelling to tell him to leave the Fed alone OR Powell has already agreed on a rate cut. Pick one but I don't think Powell has confirmed anything because there's no hard data to support yet.

Is this news?

In other words, is he not enforcing the 145% already or is he just saying that it will come down if/when a deal is made?

This is how it reads to me and seems to be the same position we’ve been in for a while now

You need what a negotiation tactic is, spelled out to you?
I need to know the goal of deploying the negotiation tactic and then tangible evidence that progress toward that goal was made upon the deployment of said tactic.

Has he though? Him reiterating that they will go down if they negotiated better trade deals is the same position he has had all along. I’m failing to see what in that statement is different that his position he has had for the last month.
Where is the "better trade deal" that China has offfered after this brilliant "negotiation tactic"?

Well, trade negotiations are still ongoing. Which is why the tariffs are still in place. You’re asking for the final results of something that are still ongoing. Do you realize how absurd of a question that is?

Maybe you really do need to be spoon fed what negotiations are. The whole scheme may crash and burn brilliantly, but your line of questions is nonsensical. Bessent said just this morning that the trade talks with China were just starting to get underway.

2 big gap ups that will eventually close. Similarly to the gap after Trump won the election.

Was this not known before ANY tariffs were imposed? Sad to think that so many in positions of power thought otherwise. Amazing that stating the obvious causes shifts in the market.
