is a recruiting violation not cheating,, its against the rules'
EVERY MLB team steals signs and the dogers, yanks and red sox cheated in 17, 18, 19

Been a Reds fan my whole life. Started as a four year old in 1976. I'm ashamed to say I actually grew up an Ole Miss fan. That changed when I went to State. Hate those bastards now. Grew up a Saints fan as a youngster, but said frick them when they traded Archie. Been a Raider(AFC) and Cowboy(NFC)ever since(1982). Hate the NBA now, but have always been a Celtic fan.

Was a diehard 49er fan since I was five (1980). When Kap started to fail as a starter and began his anti-America campaign, I gave up on them. Only NFL team I care about is whatever team has my fantasy players. I get no prizes in my mailbox if the 49ers win anything again, and I don't care.

Been a fan of the Pelicans/Hornets and LSU all my life. Never really got into the NFL. Followed the Rangers for a long time, but ever since Nolan Ryan left the FO they don’t care about winning, so I follow the braves since they are our local team we get on FoxSports.
Not sure why people act like you can’t switch allegiance. Players get traded all the time. Teams are willing to up and leave.
For the most part, I follow whoever is local.

The Cubs used to be my 2nd favorite team and favorite in the National League. That was due to all of their games being on WGN. I've been to Wrigley Field 5 times for games. The last in 2002. Now even though I have MLB.tv I don't watch their games unless they are on national television and their world series win didn't mean that much to me.

Even through all of that, i will NEVER change my allegiance to my teams.
That's what real fans do. Congrats on not being a little bitch like the OP here.

I feel like once you’ve established a college team by attending said school, you can’t change.
I see friends whose children went to different colleges cheer for their kid's schools a lot.
I'm an LSU die hard. My uncle stole away Y A Tittle in the dead of night. I went to my first game as a little kid. I went to NLU/ULM and sometimes go with Monroe friends to a game...like every few years.
Been a Rockets fan since we moved to Houston over 30 years ago. Astros a bit as a kid and then we lived in Dallas during the Nolan Ryan years. I've always been a Ryan fan, so it was easy to root for them when I could go watch him pitch a 13 strikeout game.
As a kid, I cheered for the Cowboys and went to several of those games. The Saints were awful when I was young (Archie Manning was my high school years) and we didn't even always get them on TV on the Shreveport stations. The Cowboys had Staubach and Landry. But as soon as Jerry Johnson came along and we moved to Houston, I cheered the Oilers. They moved, I went with the Saints and little bit Texans. NFL now? Hmmm...maybe Saints? Texans are the mother of all dumpster fires!
My kids are complete Houstonians, Astros, Rockets, Texans, except for LSU! They do love LSU!

Grew up a Bama fan and had no pro sports here, so it was pretty much ATL pro wise. Safe to say nothing will ever get me to leave my allegiance to the Tide... Even though I am engaged to an Auburn fan

I was thirteen years old when the Grizzlies moved to Memphis.
That was the final time I have switched allegiances.

But you're still an LSU fan? Does your moral sports code not apply to college teams? Maybe it doesn't count if you weren't a "fan" when [insert team name here] was caught cheating?

quote:The two moves didn't happen at the same time, but Bud Selig moving his Brewers to the NL, is the real reason Houston moved to the AL. This guy explains it pretty well.
Brewers moved to the NL about 15 years before the Astros came over to the AL. So that had nothing to do with it.

Why did the Milwaukee Brewers move to the National League and then the Houston Astros move to the American League?

The bullying of Bud Seelig, owner of the Brewers, was to blame. Seelig is a pompous, self-seeking owner who tramples on anyone he can get by with trampling.
The old Milwaukee team, the post-Boston, pre-Atlanta Braves, was in the National League. Seelig wanted to see his team there in the NL, and for completely selfish and inconvenient reasons, he forced them into the NL, making the two leagues unbalanced. He did this in a year of expansion, which sneaked Milwaukee into the NL.
After the players strike and other unrest, baseball’s commissioner resigned, and rather than hiring a new, impartial commissioner, the owners made Seelig “interim” commissioner, with is a little like making a fox the “interim” supervisor of the hen house.
As a result of his meddling, the NL had sixteen teams, which meant that one division had six teams, while the other two had five. And in the American League, the Central and East had five teams, while the AL west had only four.
In order to bring back balance to the leagues, it was necessary to move a team from the NL to the AL. Of course, with fifteen teams each, it meant that every day, either a team would not play, or there would have to be interleague play every day. The latter was imposed on us, so the novelty of interleague games was made boringly common, and futher tarnished the shine of the World Series, where teams used to meet that never met in regular season.
Instead of just putting Milwaukee back where it was, Seelig decided that another team should be bumped into the American League. One thing baseball fans like is the fantasy of an in-state World Series game, like Mets/Yankees, or Angels/Dodgers, or Reds/Indians, etc. Many Astros and Rangers fans hoped it would happen in Texas some day. Houston, often the step child of MLB, was in a turmoil, looking for a new buyer for a team. Seelig the bully blackmailed the whole operation by telling the potential buyer of the Astros that he would only get approval to buy the team if he agreed to move it to the American League. As a result, there will never be a chance for a Texas World Series.
So now, Houston, a Gulf of Mexico team, finds that half over half its division is two hours away on the Pacific Coast, and so Astros (and Rangers) fans have tons of ball games that don’t end till after midnight Central time.
The Astros, a NL team for over 50 years, were suddenly forced into another league, and the valued rivalries with the Dodgers and Cardinals, among others, were wiped away.
