So the New Orleans Catholic schools don’t compete in the playoffs with the public schools? If a school accepts students from outside of its assigned attendance district, they play in the Select playoffs. This includes private schools, public magnet schools, and public charter schools.

Been this way since what 2013 or so?

Or you can do it the Texas way.

Create a separate playoff for 3rd and 4th place teams in districts and call the winner a state champion.

Louisiana is a lot better than it used to be. Select Div I used to be 12 schools, but when they added the charters and the magnets to Select, it created an actual playoff again.

Regular season, they compete with one another, but not in “District” play to compete for a playoff spot.

Playoffs - Louisiana has class 1 - 5 A Non-Select school championships (majority is public) & 4 Select school championships (they group class 1 & 2 A together).

This silly due to the fact that you will never have the 2 top teams in a class playing each other. Hell, one Select school made the playoffs last season with 1 a 1-9 record.

Ummmm…

Now it’s 4 select and 4 nonselect championships… Division I will be all 5A schools next year, II will be 4A and 3A, III will be 3A and 2A, and IV will be 2A and 1A

Texas 6A-II is not the third and fourth place teams in each district, it’s the third and fourth biggest enrollments among the playoff teams in each district. There will be some district champions in that bracket. There will also be schools that are bigger than some schools in the Division I bracket

One region has teams from Huntsville to Auburn in it. That’s a 3.5 hour drive for a region game.

Georgia has that in public school regions. Brunswick schools are in the same region as Augusta schools. Camden County has to go to Colquitt for a region game. Easily 3.5 hours one way.

Yeh LA is a complete shite show. They should create a super sports Division and say if you want to compete against the best then sign up for this Division. If you want your participation trophy then stay where you're at!

My prediction is JC wouldn't sign up and they're the reason for the split!

The privates in Tennessee are closer to college than high school. It would be an absolute blood bath with the public’s.

It’s been quite a few years, but we beat MBA in a bowl game 7-0. We weren’t impressed seeing them arrive on private coach, getting off the bus in their suit coats. I asked our best linebacker what he thought as we watched them exit the bus and he said I think private school boys in suits can get their asses kicked by public school country boys.

In Louisiana it's the 1A, 2A & 3A private schools in metropolitan areas that caused the problem. I would guess the same type of schools are the problem in Alabama too. There the ones in these two classes, aren't they?

I think that's the case. McGill-Tool is a prime example. It's not football, necessarily. It's everything else, and everything else is more important now because of NIL. Don't know how much of the public/private money flow is the reason. State politics for any state isn't exactly the most transparent, though it should be. But from what I've watched on youtube and read, it's more a nobody wins so everybody wins thing. I personally think all sports should be decoupled from any kind of education institute, but that's as popular in America as good country music is these days.

McCallie and Baylor recruit half their team from Canada. Including the #2 RB in the country next year who looks like Derek Henry out there. And Peyton’s kid is there now, who may not be special, but just shows that these aren’t competing with public schools.
