The juiced ball sucks and actually decreases the amount of action in a game. Now it's all K, walk, HR, station to station baseball. Less action, more "scoring".

Not really. He’s getting older. There are tons of pitchers not giving up bombs at his rate.

1/2 the league is on pace to break the all-time HR record. Somebody has to be giving them up lol. He’s got a .81WHIP & .190 OBA. He’s 100% correct...now whether anybody gives a shite about his complaint is another story. But he’s not wrong.
Raise the mound an inch or 2, leave the ball as is. It’ll level out

Are we sure it's the ball and not the focus on launch angles and counteracting shifts?

Also if the pitches are faster, it stands to reason they'll be hit faster too

Maybe he should throw less strikes.

If you pound the zone like he does your bound to miss your spot a lot more

I’m not defending Verlander. But if you think records are being shattered cause pitchers are missing spots, you’re a fool. The whole league is getting tattooed, not just him. I like the added offense, just think it’s too much. There’ll prolly be 20-30 guys hitting 40. That’s absurd

Will SOMEBODY please explain how this works?

OK I get it,the ball is flying out of the park.Does the commissioner or some secret panel order this?Is it some type of error in production? Just don't get the "production conspiracy" theory.

We'll yeah, it's launch angles too, but without a juiced ball that launch swing would result in flyouts not HRs. Players would change their swings and not launch if it would result in an out.

150 years of MLB and players just discovered launch angles the last couple of years. Ridiculous.

I was a believer in this until this AAA season. They are absolutely destroying their record home run pace and they changed to the mlb ball this year

Fly balls are up 3.4% since 2014. HR/FB is up 58.9% since 2014.

There is a 5 year upward trend in HRs league wide. This isn't the first year where bullshite balls are getting out, ive been saying it for 3 years now. It certainly is the worst though

I’m a little conflicted. Few others in the MLB throw a heavier ball than JV so if he says the balls are juiced I’m inclined to believe him. This isn’t a guy with a 6+ ERA bitching.

OTOH, the Astros have benefited tremendously from the extra pop, so....

I mean, MLB purchased the company that makes their baseballs.

In a normal run environment setting, the guy would have an ERA well below 2 right now and people would be talking about him having one of the greatest pitching seasons of all-time.

Okay?I would still like to see some type of link or directive that shows some type of conspiracy to juice the balls.

Why does it need to be a conspiracy? MLB wanted to give a boost to offense. There’s less drag on the ball and it’s a recent development that coincides with MLB purchasing Rawlings.

quote:

Major League Baseball insists there has been no change in the manufacturing of the baseball, but commissioned independent reports last year which determined there is less of a drag on the baseball, which has become even more evident this year.

I think Britton hits it on the head though:

quote:

“Hey, I get it. You want to bring in a new generation of fans, that’s the goal. We’re in the entertainment business. It’s something to give to the fans to draw them back, and as pitchers, we’ve got to adapt.

“But it would make everybody’s job a lot easier if they would just come out and say, “Hey we decided to do this to create more offense.’ They can do it. It’s in their rights. It’s not against the CBA [collective bargaining agreement]. It’s almost like they’re trying to save face to an extent.’’

I don’t care that the mlb juiced the balls. I care that they did it in secret.

What else are they hiding?

Maybe his way of pitching is no longer effective. Dudes that were great bunters were pissed when the rules changed and allowed more offense. I for one like the long ball. The game is so popular right now, he just needs to be happy he had is 15 mins in the sun.
