MLB needs to put an end to this, but they won't.

it's basically going to be the 2025 version of 90's steroid, gorilla ball offense.

I get the concern over the bats, but i also had the same concerns as the guy that developed them. With modern bullpens being so loaded with crazy arms, maybe a slight equalizer in the bigger barrels isnt such a bad thing

He leads the yankees in HRs and isnt even using the torpedo bat. Maybe they faced some really shitty pitching that first weekend? Haha time will tell.

It might not be a “slight” equalizer.

Up until now, a big part of being a good pitcher was “missing barrels”. How can a pitcher do that now? I realize this isn’t a cut and dried question/answer, but I think we might be underestimating how much of a difference it will make.

Given MLB’s need to energize the fan base and attract young fans, they probably encouraged and supported the bat’s development. The last thing they should do is ban it as long as the bat conforms to the rules currently in place.

The barrel isn’t bigger is it? It’s still under the max required, just shaped, with more mass occurring in the sweet spot.

MLB does not regulate the shape of a bat inside the set domain, and they shouldn't. Composition yes, but shape, no.
