Would love for Texas to get Bauer somehow.

I don't doubt someone will sign Bauer. But he might get stuck with some crap team on a shorter term deal for less money than what he had.

Pardon my math — actual projected payroll is just below $200M right now. Projected luxury-tax payroll is about $239M according to Fangraphs.
That’d be about $6M over the tax threshold, and would draw a 20% tax on the amount over $233M (i.e. $1.2M tax on $6M amount over limit).

Corey Kluber is making his way around the AL East and signs with Boston

He is probably blackballed by the league at this point even though players like Chapman, Ozuna, and others have been let back in
The league hates him for exposing the sticky stuff usage and are using this BDSM thing to punish him for it.

I agree the league hates him, especially after his suspension when he went off and revealed the text between him and the "victim"

I'm certain that teams would have given up much more to get Murphy if it was known he would sign that kind of deal now.
The Braves are set to make an Astro-like run in the NL
I even think they could afford to lock Correa up on a injury reduced, team friendly deal should the Mets falter
Seems like if they liked Swanson, they could have got that done. Something about him they didn't like.

I've watched quite a bit of Bauer's YouTube content and he never really seemed that way. But ofc that's edited and for YouTube.
The youtube stuff actually made him semi-likable.
And he even had a good video on the sticky stuff... and then like a month later, the sexual assault charge came.

Excited to see what this team can do. It's been a while since we put together such a solid team. Major props to new GM Chris Young.

I don’t think many teams liked Dansby for $25MM AAV. Certainly not Atlanta. He’s a solid player for sure, but not at that price.

His AAV was less than any of the 4 SS's signed - he's the best defensively of the 4 and hit more home runs the last two years than any of the 4 and had his best year last year. And he's younger by 2-3 years than two of them that signed double digit year deals.
I like his deal better than any of the other 3.

I agree
Braves didn’t want him
And Correa is likely better overall defensively. His arm is a weapon

People with eyes who have watched Dansby know he is good not great. That’s why the Braves smirked at what his agent wanted. He will be replaced with a little reduction in production but not enough to alter any outcome in the regular season. And if you want to talk playoffs Dansby is a big reason the Braves were bounced. He was an automatic out.

The Braves have adopted the Patriots/Steelers philosophy of not over-paying and letting you walk a year or two early then hanging on for a year or two too long.
