Dodgers SS Gavin Lux injured his leg in a game today. Not sure how bad the injury is, but he was carried off the field.

Watched the Yankees and Braves game yesterday and it was a delight. The strategy that is now going on between pitchers and hitters and base runners is going to be fun to watch. No step-outs by the batters, and no step-offs by the pitchers as they scratched themselves. It was grand. The no-shift rule made a difference yesterday as well. I saw one stolen base and frankly, there are tons of room to explore base running options.

It's a brave new world and I can't wait for the strategy coming with it.

I totally agree - their owner just says hell I can't take it with me when I'm gone. But you sure can make it hard for your team to win past a very small window and saddle them with a bunch of declining players who you can't trade because you paid them too much.

Carted off after hurting his leg sliding into 3rd base. Even the best case scenario isn't good, IMO.

They will be fire selling while paying for 90% of those contracts.

Still amazes me that they didn't void the Tatis contract.

Lux’s injury was awkward to say the least

Since tearing my ACL skiing years ago, it’s hard to watch

Not sure about this one, but it still made me flinch

At least I feel like the big deals the Mets have thrown out aren’t THAT bad. The old guys on short deals.

I agree. Seems like the Padres are signing every FA they can with no real plan.

Super high AAV on short deals is definitely a lot safer than what San Diego is doing. I don't think the Diaz contract will age well because relievers are so volatile but I also don't think Cohen really cares , and I think Mets fans would have been kind of unhappy had he gone somewhere else after the year he had last season.

San Diego's owner will probably be dead by the time these contracts become albatrosses though so he doesn't care.

I agree with that one. I like Nimmo and McNeil’s deals though.

I do too. I think their games will both age well.

Exactly, he gets lauded in the short term for spending money and is likely gone before he has to suffer the repercussions of all the bad contracts.

Hell, the only one I think one might have been able to at least make a decent argument for - Tatis Junior as he was so young, has been a disaster the first two years.

You mean we might have actual strategy again instead of only homers, strike outs, or walks?

The injury to Dodgers shortstop Gavin Lux -- who underwent testing yesterday, after he was carted off the field -- will keep him off the field for a long time. An industry source: "It is bad."
