I feel like the NFL offices have a white board full of exactly what fans don't want, and they are just crossing them off one at a time.

Why would anyone be upset with games in Europe? You dont like morning games over coffee leading into the other games? It baffles me how this bothers anyone. One less home game every other trip abroad, waaaahhhh. Who goes to more than 7 NFL games a year in person for this to impact? Product is best on TV and this gives you another window for the product. The amount of people who should complain about a game in Europe is exactly 0.

Spot on. MSB is very low IQ sometimes.

Like you're really going to miss CLE at NO being the 7th game in the early window and now you only have 6 games in the early window. Oh the HUMANITY! An extra window of NFL football that you can simply ignore. How will we ever recover?

I think it is more people feeling it is forced when there is really no strong demand for it. I get WHY the NFL is doing it. They see the market potential the NBA, MLB, NHL capitalizes on with all three leagues having star international players in the league. But the reality is for one reason or another, American football just hasn't taken root outside of the US. It's not like football is a "new" game compared to basketball or baseball. So presumably there has been the same amount of time for football to gain a stronghold internationally as basketball and baseball. Yet, it hasn't like those sports.

The question is do you risk diluting your domestic dominance by trying to chase international viewership that just isn't there?

I'm not a season ticket holder for any NFL teams, but I can see where fans would be upset over losing out on a home game.
even if Season package gets discounted for having 1 less game, people want to go to that game without having to fly across the globe to do it.

I have been to quite a few rugby matches at Stade de France....the area is a little rough but you are just taking the train up and back so it does not really matter.

Getting there is a little easy...but the post game subway is always a train wreck so dont rush. There are a few bars around the stadium but nothing to handle the volumes

Why would they spend more money? The game is as big as it gets in the US

Because there are a lot more countries out there where they can generate a lot more revenue. It's not like they lose money on these international games.

Both the travel and the field quality impact the games

Goodell said that eventually, all 32 teams will play one overseas game each season.

“I’ve said many times 16 games, so that every team is playing a regular season game every season,” Goodell said. “I think that’s an important mark for us to go for. I think we’re well on our way, with the desire we have from our side, but also the desire for people to have this in their communities, and some of the greatest cities in the world are asking to do this.”

Not true. A better fairer product would increase viewers. Would increase betting too. Thats more money.

You have to spend money (smartly) to make money. Why do companies advertise? To make more money. But you need a good product to begin with else it only goes so far.

All of this. The NFL’s decisions as of late reek of the arrogance that ultimately leads to a titan’s downfall. We see it in business. We’ve seen it in sports. Football is not unique. It is not this perfect deity that is immune to suffering and volatility.

I completely agree that it will see some hard times ahead. I always pushed back on those calling for its demise around shite like concussions or being too violent. That was nonsense, but their leadership’s decisions lately are the reason for the eventual decline.

Boxing used to be our biggest sport. It fell. And NFL will slowly piss away its fans. It will happen, people can only take so much crap rammed down their throat.

Definitely a risk, but not because of games in Europe. Boxing killed itself by going to PPV. Biggest threat to the NFL is if they move all the games to crappy streaming services. A lot of fans will say "I'm not subscribing to 10-15 different services just to watch football".

I always forget those games on. I might catch some of the 3rd or 4th quarter.
