It’s a shame what’s happening to ND Crowley.
I’m a TCH boy but always loved our “rivalry” with ND and even though we hardly ever won.
Louie Cook is a class act and is an all timer.
Their S&C program was legendary and yes they did use a lot of roids.
I knew lots of guys that played for ND in the mid to late 00’s.
But yes they just aren’t the same anymore.

Depends on whether the Justice Department gets involved.

I think they used to get pretty much all the athletes to play football. So if you couple that with lower overall attendance….

Everyone I talk to still loves Coach Cook, the kids especially, so I don’t know what it is.

That said, I watched them play Lake Arthur and Vinton (I think it was those two) last year, and those sidelines were very bare compared to ND’s. Like half the players, so it’s still way better at ND than some other schools.

Private to public? What a time to be alive.
private school tuition is out of control

In 2006 Catholic BR was $6,200

In 2024 it is $13,245, or a 113% increase

Wages over that time period have increased on average 55%

No bueno

Yes.

If they are truly Catholic institutions, they should be doing everything possible to make it a viable option for all of their parishioners.

I don’t know how long the current model can continue.

The west side of Crowley is a hood worse than NOLA. All affluent people are fleeing from the small Acadiana towns by the hundreds.
They are moving closer and closer to Lafayette. Scott, Youngsville, and northeast side of Lafayette is growing by the day.

Worse in what way? I drive through West Crowley all the time, and it’s not that bad. It’s poor and black, but this is Louisiana, my man.

Another thing to add is that NDs feeder schools (specifically St Michaels and Rayne Catholic) are having the opposite problem and have great attendance numbers. I truly believe that NDs decline in attendance is due to parent not wanting to pay the amount for the product that ND offers, which is an of an indictment on ND

Louie is probably the best football coach our state has had, how is that an indictment on ND lol. Baseball and softball are damn good too, so is volleyball there. Academics are good too from what I've heard.

Must be one of them Teurlings boys between 2000-2020 that was repeatedly beaten by ND and chalked it up to steroids and not the fact that Sonny isn’t nearly the coach his son is

Always living in the past. Typical Notre Dame

This may surprise you, but ND is supposed to be a school too. ND has extremely average academics and has for a while now. When I say indictment, I mean on their investment in the academics of the school. Again, I say that as a graduate of the school. Half of the campus hasn't been renovated in almost 60 years and is falling apart. They have an extremely high teacher turnover rate. Outside of athletics, there are almost no clubs or extracurriculars. That is what has pushed parents from sending their kids there. Why would parents pay $7-8k for ND when they can get a better education at Teurlings for the same price and still be successful in athletics.

The senior class they have right now will be one of the best they’ve had in a while. A lot of farm bred athletes. I’d also bet this is cooks last year

Im with you. I had a conversation with him not too long ago about the team this year and he let something slip along the lines of "I want to go out on a high note". Now whether or not that is still the case if they have an early exit in the playoffs is another question

Wonder if it feels like that last hurrah Redemptorist team that lost in the semis and then three years later the school was closed

Notre Dame will stay open long after Cook leaves. Be as good in football? Highly unlikely but that area is very cultish with the catholic farmers
