They've been doing this a few years now - thing is very few of the players are as good as Votto is at it or even close.
You always get this narrative from the media that baseball needs to do a better job of marketing itself. And when you ask them how - they almost all say this - mike up the players, show their personalities.
Problem is they've done this a lot and if they have great personalities it does not always show via this method.

Slice it however you want but they looked shitty last night. If it wasn’t for Riley, they would have been shutout last night. If you compare some of the stats, the Reds didnt play an overall great game. Braves looked hungover last night.
